Oh yeah. I never flew in all my years of cheer but had my fair share of stunting injuries. PS that flyers double is a mess. And the fact that they were using 3 males to put up 1 girl is crazy. Stunts like that it's usually 3 female bases or 1 male and 1 female base. (unless it's partner stunting). but I guess they were just trying to train her.

Just food for thought: referees and umpires are judges of sorts, and they can DEFINITELY decide the outcome of a game/match, so does that mean football, baseball, basketball, hockey, and pretty much everything else aren't sports?

Already explained this. In the sports you mentioned, the players score points directly on the field. A TD is 6 points not 5 if judge decides so. So no it isn't the same but keep trying.

So is it fourth and inches or a first down? Is it a ball or a strike? Those sorts of things do matter.

But the red doesn't give you yards based on how well they liked your play. The players place themselves in position to win or lose, not the refs. Cheer and other judged competitions can't say the same.

Really USC lost the outback bowl? Oh wait they over came it. Even with refs screwing up calls they could win, that couldn't happen in cheer. Thanks for proving my point.

Again not even close to the same. If I run through the back of the end zone for a TD the ref can't say it isn't worth 6 points. In cheer they can say it isn't worth the same as someone else. Judge competitions aren't sports.

And if the football is an inch short of the marker, it's not a first down, right? The point is the opinions of someone not actually playing the game can determine the outcome. A ref could throw a flag on the play where you run through the back of the endzone and say you were taunting, and that would negate the score. Your unwillingness to accept that cheerleaders are athletes and are every bit as competitive as other sports (much more so than certain other "sports" like bowling and billiards) amazes me. Like someone else said, I actually don't care if it's recognized as a sport officially or not, but to say it's not just because it has judges is just stupid. If they were to award point values that were black and white the way football and basketball do, make the judges "officials", and the participants were to do exactly the same things, that would suddenly make it a sport to you? If so, you're being intentionally dense.

Feeling a little angry there?
I don't think I was saying we lost the OB, the point was the bad call by a ref (judge) changed the tone of the game, which we could have lost. Refs blow a lot of calls during a season and some do change the outcome of a game ala Packers vs Seahawks.
Actually I don't know if there's too many things nowadays that could be called a "sport", most of them have become businesses and the $$$$ rules the outcome.
