ATH Jefferie Gibson (6-4 190) of Hope Mills, NC has offers from Clemson, NC State and North Carolina with interest from USC, Florida State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. He named Clemson and NC State his top two adding, "It depends on what other offers I get." Gibson made his way to Clemson for a junior day recently and liked what he saw. "I've been there three or four times," he said. "This time I got to see the campus and where the players stay. The coaches are telling me the best players get to play and contribute and I like that. They said they don't worry about seniority. They said if I'm the best at my position, I'll start." Gibson has also visited USC. "I was there for the Wofford game," he said. "It was pretty cool. The coaches seem really tight." He heads to Florida State this weekend for a junior day. As a junior he totaled 70 tackles, four interceptions returning two for scores and added a kickoff return for a touchdown. He did not name a leader.

The Tigers have visited Gibson this spring. “They’re telling me that they will not have as many safeties when I get there so I can play early,” said Gibson. Early playing time intrigues Gibson as UNC has told him the same thing. “Coach (Larry) Fedora called me last week and asked me if I was scared to play early and I told him no,” he said. “He told me that I as soon as I step on campus he would need me to play.” Gibson was favoring Clemson and NC State but says the Tar Heels are very much in the picture now. He plans to announce this summer. Before that, Gibson will make a return trip to Clemson.
