it does not matter where they are. but you have to have exactly 7 players on the line and 4 players in the back field. Also, the only people that can act as receivers are the two outer most of that 7 (far left, and far right).

that is why you here things about not covering up the tight end and phrases like that. basically, if you want your tight end to be able to catch, you cannot have a wide out that is on the same side of the offensive line as the tight end be lined up on the line of scrimmage

I got a good one... Say on the kickoff the kicker kicks the ball and it goes thru the uprights on the other end, would that count as a fieldgoal?

highly doubt it, but just a thought lol

Would be nice to see them add that to the rule book but NO it doesn't
count for any points. ... I've actually seen kickers do that after a penalty
before. With a shorter field on the kickoff, I've seen kickers put it through
the uprights, or at times aim for it. I've saw a game years back were a
kicker actually put one over the goal post from the old kickoff spot (30).
Can't remember the kicker or team that did it, but it was during one of
the bowl games several years ago.
