Yates went 11-15 on the year, including 2 or 3 blocked FGs....Its a 73.3 percent mark...its not that bad, blocking on FGs could use some work tho

Two of those blocked kicked could have been done by midgets with a poor vertical jump...they were barely about head level of the line of scrimmage both times.

I wouldn't say this is the case at all. There is no denying that Adam had a bad game today, but Spurrier has been very complimentary of Adam Yates this season. After the Clemson game, Spurrier was EXTREMELY complimentary of the job Adam had done this year and even said that Adam would kick in the NFL. Yes, he did say this.

I don't think a coach like Spurrier would be saying that our kicker would be kicking in the NFL if he had no faith in him.

No offense, but I highly doubt that is going to happen. Maybe on kickoffs or something, but he wont be splitting the uprights in the NFL.

Just repeating what Spurrier stated a few weeks ago. I am not saying it will happen, but Spurrier was definitely very complimentary of Adam so I don't think it is true to say that our coaches didn't have confidence in him to kick field goals.

USC is in dire need of a quality punter. LSU's backup punter is better than the one currently on the roster.

SOS mentioned in the post game interview that they weren't going to try a FG on the last drive. Indicated Yates looked flakey (forget the word he used, but it was not a compliment). Seemed to indicated he had no confidence in him after those first two kicks, especially when there are only 17 seconds left in the game, need a FG to win, are about 40 yards from the endzone and trying a FG is out of the question.

There is the off season to improve things, but SOS will never be fond of FG's. All that is the afterath of a blown chance to get a TD or to extend the drive on the way to a TD.

yeah yates had a good regular season, he had some poor kicks, but overall was solid. bowl game however his placekicking was terrible, but his kickoffs were good.
