Being in a BCS Bowl Game...

I'm looking down my channel guide and it's insane how much coverage a BCS Bowl Game gets. Imagine that for us. The Florida-Louisville game has gotten a commercial spot in every other bowl game, an hour long special "College Gameday" special before the game, a Nokia Sugar Bowl pre-game, not to mention the game is in a premium time slot on a day where nothing else is going on.

It's insane how much coverage the schools in all these bowls get. The exposure for OUR school, would be unfrigginreal, considering we've never been there.

It's kinda ridiculous. A lot of the teams don't deserve bids, but are given them for winning crappy conferences.

I would say that our game is the most talked about game so far and probably will be remembered as much or more.

It's the amount of exposure all the schools get. Recruits look at that stuff...being in the spotlight and the prestige of the school. There are posts all over asking if we're elite yet. We're not elite until the nation takes notice that we are playing in a primetime game at the end of the year.

We got serious nationwide exposure with Clowney's hit and by the bowl game being so good and competative.

I've gotten facebook messages from friends from all over the country who aren't gamecocks about the gameand congratulating us .

Acc still has the orange bowl, just against a better opponent.
And 1 "mid major" is still guaranteed a BCS bowl.

After watching the Orange Bowl last night...FSU needs to be ashamed. That game was a freakin' snoozer through the first three quarters. NIU got a fake punt on them as well as the first turnover. FSU should have been up by three TD's before the end of the first quarter. They'll probably still end up with a top 5 ranking.

Watching it on TV was boring. Just the feel of it was boring and quiet. Sounded like the crowd wasn't in to it at all. The field looked kinda dark too.

But yeah, all of the BCS games get way too much coverage. Nat champ and Fiesta are the only ones worth watching. Rose was better than I thought, but not great. Orange has turned into a joke. Sugar is ok...UF will destroy.

The BCS bowls have the highest payouts so they need to sell the most advertising and need to try to capture the most viewership.

Do you realize how much the orange bowl pays for those 30 second spots and the hour long specials?

I was in the golf marketing business and the golf channel did a thirty minute show about my golf courses ( it is a friend/celebrity golf trip show) and it cost me about $100,000.

Tv commercials don't make or break the buzz around a football game. They could advertise a Akron vs. Tulane Sugar Bowl all they wanted to. But how exciting is that? Advertising helps to get the word out, but the match ups in the game create the buzz.
