I would like to hear his explanation as to why he called it the way he did....Then file the complaint.

Absolutely! It ended up not hurting us (and may have helped) in the game, but COME ON, MAN!! At some point the officials need to get the message that their performance is also critiqued and they will be held accountable. This jacka$$ needs to go back to JV games and never work any level higher... EVER!

There is no explanation that can make messing up that call ok. There is no way any unbiased person in their right mind could have said that was a first down. A blind man could have felt the gap and known it wasn't a first down.

Kinda funny (ha-ha funny) - Jeff Maconaghy (THE Referee) was the guy that was calling the SoCal-Syracuse game 9/17/2011 and announced "Fumble recovered by South Carolina". Thought he might be a "Michigan Man" but he's not - Temple grad.

I agree the guy should get demoted but I am pleased with all of the shenanigans because of all the extra attention the game received. I love that we stole Clemson's attention too.

And how do the replay booth guys not tell him how bad of a call it was? All they had to do was say the spot was moved like 2 inches back further to make it more obvious to correct the mistake and they chose not to. I don't know, it just stinks to high heaven.

You can also see the ref holding the yardage marker try to move it to the ball after the call..in the GIF its as plain as day even..

I just noticed that the Gamecock players on the field getting fired up over the call was the OFFENSIVE unit....in other words, we already KNEW it was Carolina ball and the offense was on the field...

I have never seen anything quite like it...which set off the most amazing sequence of events I've ever seen in a game in three consecutive plays.
