Question About Brandon Wilds

He was out there for kick coverage but wasn't given any running time.

If he was healthy enough to cover, why wasn't he part of our lineup?

We had trouble moving the ball on running plays and Brandon is a big dude that can force a hole similar to Latti.

I still think he is our #1 guy, though he doesn't get much discussion on this board for some reason.

His size, power, ability to lean, etc. are very similar to Marcus and his yards per carry was great. He also is a tad faster than Marcus.

Just wondering why he didn't get the shot that Carson obviously did.

Yeah Gruden & Tirico miscalled names a few times...it's hard to fault them when you consider the amount duplicate numbers on our team.

Are you sure it was Wilds? The reason I ask is that we have changed a lot of numbers for the bowl game and a defensive player may have worn that one. Also, nothing was said about Wilds dressing or playing in the bowl. Shon Carson was the only one that burned his eligibility by playing that day.

That is what I have been told so I am wondering if who you saw was wilds.

Anyone who knows Gamecock football would have never been lead to believe Wilds played, much less on special teams. Lewis has been there all year.

Hell Gruden said breast after Clowney's hit. I saw no naked woman and knew immediately he misspoke.

Me too. He runs just like latti. Imagine how good he is gonna be now that he understands the offense and isnt just a freshman getting thrown to the wolves.. Im stoked about him next year if our line can run block..

You are probably confused because of the similarity of the Michigan kick-off-specialist's name. Matt Wile was handling k/o duties for them in the bowl. I heard a few times where his name was called during the return. Messed with me a bit, too.

That's funny, because I immediately assumed that Gruden had super powers of some sort. You see, I am a very fat man. And I was shirtless at the time of the hit. I distinctly remember them saying "Brandon Wilds w/ the tackle" on one (and it was only one) of our own kick-offs.

The same logic that he better understands the offense applies to the OL as well. Think about Brandon, Corey and Ronald having almost a full year of playing time under their belt as they play this fall beside A.J. Unless someone steps up and plays better the only slot to fill is the massive whole left by T.J. But I agree, Coach Elliott can and must get these guys doing better with the run.

I'm really excited about Brandon and am sure as heck glad we made this his redshirt year. Agree, he very much reminds me of Marcus.

They screwed that one up but how good were Tirico and Gruden? Damn, I know it will never happen but I wish CBS could get Gruden to replace Danielson, and Tirico would just be icing on the cake.

I figured it was someone who also wore #22. Didn't think that we would be dumb enough to:
1. Pull his RS for one game, when he is probably our #1 RB, starting next year.
2. Risk hurting our probable #1 RB next year by putting him on the coverage team.

I have said it in other threads, and I'll say it again, I think he is the #1 back, because of the way he played filling in for Lattimore in 2011. Definitely proved himself.

I don't know how Gruden does it. I mean he does all the things for ESPN and manages to be the head coach (or head coach in waiting) at every FBS school.

The little bit of Shon Carson i saw reminded me of Latti. I never thought Wilds ran like Lattimore in terms of his style. He is a lot bigger back, and not as quick with his feet laterally as is Lattimore. Carson, however .... he looks like he has the stuff. It wouldn't surprise me at all if Shon is #1 when we play the first in flight team.

Huh? He touched the ball twice on consecutive plays. One screen he got blown up on and the next he was also hit immediately. We lost yardage on that drive until Thompson hit Jones for the long pass. Not saying Carson wont be good, just that he didnt even have a chance to make a single move in that game.

And Mike Davis will get the majority of the carries next season.
