Now I just would like to point out something that I don't think alot of people have mentioned and thats the play clock. How many times could you count in a single game when Garcia was here that we would get a delay of game or end up having to waste 2 timeouts before we even got into the second quarter. Every time after Garcia did this Spurrier would either just shake his head or throw his visor in frustration. Its so relieving to know that we have two QB's capable of getting an offense lined up and snapping the ball in time even after an audible may or may not be called in.

I really think that's why Nick and Byrd missed those passes Saturday. They aren't used to the ball getting there that quickly, and they weren't ready for it. Thompson's passes are faster, both on the release and in the air. I hope that means he's less likely to be intercepted, but only time will tell about that.

More practice time will solve those problems, and if our guys learn to play both styles, we can confuse any defensive line we play against.

It's going to be a long offseason listening to the speculation.

Look at it this way...we're fortunate enough to have at least TWO quality starting caliber QB's at this present time. I can remember just a couple of years ago having no other real option at QB. Then add in Noso and Mitch to the mix.

Combine the two guy's stats, and at QB this is what we wound up with this season...220-355 for 2,983 yards, with 28 TD's and 9 INT's.

I'll take that combined total from our two headed monster any day of the week.

You may be right. I wasn't at the game Saturday, but someone on here said that the sun was in Thompson's eyes, not theirs. I was going on that, trying to figure out why they missed balls that actually hit them. I was guessing it was the timing, but I could certainly be wrong about that.

The speed of our game is impressive. I think I saw only one delay of game all year. There may have been more that I missed.

Here is my two cents. I think a whole bunch of people on here are reading way too much into this. Everyone needs to stop and think about who said this, HBC thinks before he speaks and does and says alot of things to motivate. Now we know Shaw is having surgery and it's going to be mainly DT for spring/Summer so I think the reason he said what he did was to try and get the most out of DT during the off season. He knows how to get in one's head for positive and negative and I feel this is why he stated what he did.

If Spurrier thinks that DT is a better NFL prospect, that does not automatically mean that Spurrier wants him to be the starter. There have been plenty of good college QB's who were not good NFL players... including some of Spurrier's former QB's.

Shane Matthews had a long NFL career. He may not have always been a starter but he hung around a lot of teams mentoring younger QBs. There's also a QB up in Boston that has a number of Superbowl rings and was a back-up his entire college career.

It's also probably a good idea for people to actually listen to the conversation and the related series of questions leading up to this statement and the comments afterwards as well. The context of statements is just as important ad the statement itself in most cases.

I think Spurrier has already said he would redshirt Mitch unless he is exceptional. To be "exceptional" in Spurrier's eyes would be unusual for a freshman, I think.

Yea so next year you get a Redshirt on Mitch, Shaw is a senior and Dylan a Junior being our #1 & #2......Now Nosovitch could sneak in there but being a Redshirt that gives us great options. So the year after that we have DT as a senior, Nosovitch as a RS Sophomore and Mitch as a RS Freshmen.......Not gonna lie but I like the way we look for QB's for the next 3-4 years.......Now could Mitch and Nosovitch pan out to be not so good? Maybe but at least we have DT for two more years.

Cover Two, you are my favorite poster but...this is BS, especially for Byrd. Watch the replay and the shadows. The sun was shining directly in Dylans face when he threw to Nick. The next play, Byrd was facing Dylan when it hit him in a bad place, the helmet.

Its also BS because "no excuses" is the HBCs motto. I know Spurrier well enough to be sure that he won't tolerate dropped TDs that are catchable, sun-in-my-eyes or not.
