ESPN recruiting rankings are pretty bad.

I think this is a result of a few things:
1. ESPN is the crappiest of all the recruiting services. Seriously. Take it w/ maybe half a grain of salt.
2. That said, Franklin is doing work. He's young, energetic, and selling kids on being a part of doing something for the first time, i.e. taking Vandy to prominence.
3. We've got the opposite, where our HC just said on a national radio show that he doesn't want to grind it out all year. Thus far, I'll take that approach as it translates to on the field success. Doesn't mean we don't need assistants and recruiters who DO want to grind it out all year.
4. ESPN is a really, REALLY crappy recruiting site.

It should be noted that SC has a very low recruiting budget, that's why we never have a class as high as all of those teams we keep beating (Clemson and Georgia).

It's not a big deal either way. We got a lot of good players this year. We're not done, AND next year we will be top 10.

Recruiting is also about coaching the players that you do get and our coaching staff knows how to coach them up to make them better players. We have been out recruited by teams since hbc has been there....stay calm we will keep winning bc of player development not overhyped recruiting rankings

i hear some people say this, and then others say that this is a rumor thats untrue. which one is it?

We spend a lot less than other schools. I don't think it's necessarily due to a strict budget though. My understanding was that that is simply the way that our staff prefers to operate.

Keep in mind guys your recruitung class is only as good as it's performance on the field. I'll take wins vs. UGA and CU anyday over beating them in recruiting.

It is very much true. South Carolina ranks next to last in the SEC for football recruiting expenditures. Vanderbilt is not ranked because they are a private school and won't release their budget.
