Any chance we take one more (Rogers...) and call it a class?

If we have 6 or so graduating next year (plus three plus going for the draft (Clowney, Quarles, Hampton... probably, maybe more)) it will be a very limited number. With all the talent in state and interest around the nation growing we could be limiting what we could get if we don't have the scholarships available for all the talent that could be looking to come here. Next years recruiting class has all the makings of a deep pool that we should be looking forward to fishing in.

I know "the numbers work themselves out" is a great refrain around here, but I'm just wondering if planning that far ahead is worth considering? I would be ecstatic with the 21 we would have (assuming all sign/enroll, of course...) and would hate to have to gimp next years class if we are getting interest from the like of Hand (#1 overall) and Humphrey (#1 CB) this early in the process.

Would shorting this class be better off, in the long run, than filling it with bodies now instead of hoping for what we could have next year? Just wondering...

the point is, I love where we are with our program. but we are currently a middle of the pack SEC team that can have the possibility of winning it all. We need to be a Top SEC team that almost certainly will win it all. And that all starts with recruiting highly rated players. Im all right with getting a few prospects that we can build up, but we need players that are ready and will only get better and not players that will one day be ready

and maybe this is because im a newer fan (about the last ten years) and i never had to go through the agony of the losses of the 90's and before

I think this Team is built for the long run and it will not be on a roller coaster ride. As a matter of fact with what we are doing on the line of scrimmage I think our best days are still yet ahead.

If we do not get Bryant this is the guy they have targeted. Senat is a very nice player but does not have the upside Bryant has.

Unfortunately we are short on LB's, so we need those spots to pick up atleast 1 more, maybe 2 more LB's.

I just want to echo some others. Star ratings are wonderful. They make fans feel good about their team! They look wonderful on paper. But, when you have certain needs, like linemen on O or D, you are not likely to have a high ranking in recruiting, because there just aren't that many 4 and 5 start linemen relative to how many programs there are and to how many other players are playing other positions. What we are doing is getting the best o and d linemen and building our nucleaus around them. We have very talented skill players, but in order for us to win the big one, we NEED a dominant offensive and defensive line. That happens by 1) recruiting them and 2) coaching the piss out of them. Developing depth along the two fronts is the easiest way to give yourself a chance to compete for titles. That's what we're doing. There are tons of talented receivers/QB's/RB's/DB's out there. We win with the front 7, that's the recipe that LSU/Bama/UGA/Michigan/ND/SoCal/Texas and others follow. It just so happens they have the *name* to pull the 5 star players. We have to build in and scrap and fight to get there.

...and lots of star rankings are based on guys who are ready to play right now. There are plenty of lower star guys who will develop after a year or two. Still...would be nice to get a few more high end guys like Marcus or Jadeveon.

Given the players and recruits we have on board who might migrate to linebacker, I wouldn't be surprised to see 1 more DT taken, even if we miss on the top prospects. I think a few lower-ranked WR prospects are being looked at with the thought to take one if we miss on the top targets. One more OL and a corner are likely still high on the needs list. It takes 3 to 5 good prospects to get one SEC-level offensive lineman. A JUCO defensive lineman or linebacker might also be in the works. We need young guys prepping for the trenches. That's how we've been able to live the last 3 years.
