How Much is Your College Football Team Worth?

Some professor added up how much each college football team would be worth, if they could be bought and sold like NFL teams. Texas is #1, Michigan #2. Florida is #3. Auburn is 6th, UGA 7th, SPUAT 8th. SC 15th, Clemson is a lowly 27th.

The trick is to buy Clemson for what they're worth and selling them for what they think they're worth.

Lowly Colorado, is ranked higher than Clemson, this is the same Colorado that was passed over by countless head coach candidates this year

I don't doubt the numbers, but I my question is why. Is it more successful alumni, or just more money in the state?

Alumni size has a lot to do with it.

If so that's not what he's talking about.
That's also probably not used in coming up with the value of a program

I think it's because the Auburn fan's logic was that Auburn had a wealthier and larger alumni base. A higher graduation rate would, in theory, make your alumni base wealthier.

I agree with what he said though to an extent.

Bama as A lot of Bandwagon "Wal-mart" fans, because they're so successful, who didn't go to college at all.
More than Auburn, because winners attract more to the bandwagon.

They also attract a lot of wealthy bandwagon fans too though. I have several friends who are very wealthy that pull for Bama even though they didn't go there. I can see winners in business or whatever who went to schools without major football programs being more likely to pull for winners in football because it just adds to their own feelings of success.

I just don't believe wealthier Alumni is why they're higher.
