I think Gilmore is actually the opposite case. Gilmore came out and everyone said "oh, you shouldn't come out now because you will go third round, etc" because he didn't have what appeared to be a spectacular season. Most people thought he needed to come back and have a good year. But Gilmore knew he would blow it up in the combines and that the combines are what really matters.

He excelled in the combines, which he thought he would, and he went 10th overall.

Coming back would not have helped him.

The absolute biggest reason Ace should stay, that no one has mentioned, is that he is set to graduate in December. He is so close to a degree, there's no reason he shouldn't come back for one more season and graduate. Football isn't there forever. And it's much easier to finish now than to have to come back and finish a degree after you've stopped.

only in today's "me generation" could a focus on the traditional "team first" mindset be considered narrow. look at our society now, where kids pull guns and shoot up schools, people put themselves before anything they are a part of and instant gratification trumps traditional reasoning. it's not only a fiscal cliff we are heading over, but one of prudence, character and humility. it's no wonder this country is in a historical nosedive that i doubt it will ever recover from. every generation just seems to become a little more self obsessed, a little more lazy and a lot more apathetic about anything of importance.

That's great news for us. If he improves at the same rate he has been, next year he'll be a 1000+ yard receiver, with several hundred return yards and he'll jump to the earlier rounds. I'm sure he made the best decision for him, but I think this was a smart move on his part, as it gives him another year to improve his stock. He'll be known as the best return man the whole year...until teams stop kicking to him though. ;)

Great news! The offense is set to be the best it's been in the Spurrier Era. Deep at RB, WR, 2 deep at QB, good TEs, and returning 4 of 5 OL. Glad one of the best WRs and the nations best PR can be apart of that!

Another little bonus is Ace will have a good chance to put his name on the wall for the most TD receptions in USC history. He's at 13, 10 behind Alshon and Sidney. With 13 or 14 games to add 11 more the odds are good of him breaking that. Alshon will stay for his record 3,042 receiving yards, but here is to hoping he replaces Sidney's name with 24+ TD receptions. The only thing that could keep him from doing that while staying healthy, is the fact there will be a lot of other capable targets next season. What a luxury to have!
