Frank should know by now fans are not going to come out in force until we have a good team. We have sucked since the day after we beat #1 KY. Horn pissed off the fan base and lost more highly touted recruits than he brought in. I don't see how you can say he's not going to be here very long at this point in his tenure. If he quits that easily, I would rather we hire someone else. He'll get the ball rolling, but it will take more time.

I've not heard Martin call out the fans for anything. He knows why attendance is low and knows how to build it, which is he working to do. He did mention recently they had high average attendance at K State, but I don't think it was a dig at our fans.

He's getting paid pretty well with or without fans at the games. As long as he's able to improve the team's play and mend some of the bridges that were burned previously, both of which will bring the fan base back, I can see him being here for a while. At least I hope it works out that way. The program needs it.

Coach Martin should be able to see our own attendance records in past recent years and easily see that when we are winning we will be among the better programs in the nation in attendance, and have had many seasons where we were at Kansas St.'s level if not better:

This year hasn't been that great:

USC: 7,754
KSU: 12,621

Last years was similar:

USC (10-21): 8,868
KSU (22-11): 12,783

But after that, our attendance numbers are pretty decent:

2011 (NCAA ranking):
USC (14-16): 10,427 (41st)
KSU (23-11): 12,652 (26th)

2010:
USC (15-16): 11,994 (30th)
KSU (29-8): 11,884 (31st)

2009:
USC (21-10): 11,776 (31st)
KSU (22-12): 8,940 (57th)

2008:
USC (14-18): 12,346 (29th)
KSU (21-12): 12,529 (25th)

2007:
USC (14-16): 12,838 (24th)
KSU (23-12): 12,301 (26th)

A number of those seasons Kansas St. has had better seasons than USC has had. Granted, Colonial Life Arena holds more people than Bramlage Coliseum does (around 6,000 more), but we've shown that we will have the house just as rocking as any others as long as we put a quality product on the court.

If Coach Martin is worth half his salt, then he'll have the confidence that he can build our program to at least where we are competitive in the SEC and contending for post-season tournaments again. Once that happens, we'll have those full houses for games once again....
