2. Outback
South Carolina 33, Michigan 28 Dylan Thompson stepped in and connected with Bruce Ellington for a 32-yard touchdown with 11 seconds to play to pull out the win for the Gamecocks. In a fun, back-and-forth battle, the Wolverines rallied back from a 14-3 deficit with three Devin Gardner touchdown passes including two in the second half to Jeremy Gallon from ten and 17 yards out, but South Carolina always had an answer with Ace Sanders following up his punt return for a score in the first quarter with a four-yard scoring grab in the second and a 31-yard touchdown in the fourth. Alternating quarterbacks, the Gamecocks got two touchdown passes out of both Thompson and Connor Shaw, with each throwing for a score in the first and the fourth. South Carolina: The two quarterbacks combined to complete 25-of-36 passes for 341 yards and four scores. Connor Shaw completed 18-of-26 passes for 224 yards and two scores, and ran ten times for 96 yards, and Dylan Thompson completed 7-of-10 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns. … WR Ace Sanders caught nine passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns and returned three punts for 66 yards and a score. … The offense held on to the ball for just 22:01. … DE Jadeveon Clowney made four tackles with two sacks and a forced fumble. … FS D.J. Swearinger made nine tackles with a half a tackle for loss and two broken up passes with a forced fumble. Michigan: QB Devin Gardner completed 18-of-36 passes for 214 yards and three touchdowns with a pick, and he ran 12 times for 24 yards. … Denard Robinson missed on his only pass, but he ran 23 times for 100 yards and caught a pass for seven yards. … WR Jeremy Gallon caught nine passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns. … The offense had the ball for 37:59. http://cfn.scout.com/2/1256004.html |

The last field gold to win made the Chicken Bowl interesting. LSU has many fans. Now they have angry fans.

Whatever.
Shows how stupid CFN is...they picked a third-tier bowl game over a more exciting second tier, new years' day bowl game.

Stupid. No way Chik Fil A was better. With the controversy of the 1st down, 4 lead changes in the 4th quarter, Ace's punt return, Clowney's hit, last second TD pass, and even the weather, Outback was an all around better game.

Only argument that could be made for CFA being better is that it was an upset.
And the CFA bowl definitely isn't a third-tier bowl...it's more than likely going to end up as one of the semi-finals locations in 2014. |

David vs Goliath. I still remember watching Oklahoma vs Boise State. But it's not like I thought Boise was at the doorway of greatness. It was an upset, that's it.

My overall assessment of the bowl season is good-excellent based on the following:
(1) South Carolina won (2) South Carolina looked good while they won. (3) South Carolina has momentum in finishing the recruiting season (4) South Carolina appears to be in good shape for next year (5) My bowl game picks did pretty well in the football pool (6) Most games were interesting. You may have different criteria but that is the way I saw it. |

Not to mention, that game was basically a game of catchup, whereas ours was a slobberknocker.
