I must admit, the more I hear about this guy the more I like him. He seems like the exact kind of person we want here:

Senat is just big enough at 6'1 legit and he carries over 300 pounds while putting up 550 pounds on the bench. He is a high character, driven individual that is intent on reaching his ceiling. Outstanding on both sides of the ball, he has great feet and athleticism. Stand-out on the OL when he is pulling in space. Projected to be a nose guard, we think he makes an early impact at the next level. -GV

So he is over 300 lbs now and puts up 550 on the bench, with our strength program we can make that over 600+, maybe even 700??? (are you kidding me) by the end of his career. And he is high character dedicated to being the best he can be!?

I have heard the staff thinks they still have a good shot at Bryant and won't take Senat until they know where things are with Bryant. the numbers are getting tight. I also heard Alfy Hill wasn't going to be in a position to play in the Spring and that might have led to the change of heart. anyone heard anything there?

I have to trust the coaches on this, not sure why Bryant would trump this guy automatically. That's just my opinion.

I also don't know why Bryant would trump Senat.
I personally think Senat may turn into a slightly better college player (with the right conditoning) than Bryant.
Both will be good..but I think Senat may be better as a pure run-stuffer.

With Alfy Hill decommitting, I don't see why we don't take both and move Deon Green to DE (where he seems a more natural fit)

So when a guy coming out of high school is listed as a tight end but is more similar to a tall WR and is more of a pass-catching TE than a blocker (thinking of guys like Anderson), why is it they almost never get evaluated as receivers? Is it always about speed? it just SEEMS to me that someone like Anderson is smaller and a little faster than a guy like Tori Gurley, but one is a receiver and the other is a TE. Can someone explain the difference?

This is from Bryant's Scout profile:

Bryant is a defensive lineman that likes to get up the field. He is not looking to be a guy who eats up space freeing up guys around him, but he wants to make plays. He is very active and he really gets off the ball quickly. He plays with good pad level, he plays with good leverage, and he really can get up the field, and into the backfield. He can still develop moves off the ball and play better when the ball comes right at him. - Chad Simmons

To me these two seem to fit two very different needs. One is fine at anchoring the line, eating up space in the middle while the other wants to pass rush. One has a major advantage of strength while the other is better at lateral movement. If Senat wants to come here and brings high character to the table, I want him here too.

We can sign 25 every year.

Ronnie Martin counts to the 25 because he is a JUCO and signed a LOI. So we have 24 LOIs that can go out to, as of now, 16 (or 15 if Vickers doesn't get one) players on NSD. So technically, we can get 8 or 9 more commitments.

Our problem is how many we can enroll to stay at the 82 cap. However, I expect USC to send out 24 LOIs and then let the numbers work themselves out because we should have some nonqualifiers and we should have some guys transfer before or after Spring ball.

According to TBS, this may be the case now. Tony M thinks we may take Senat and Bryant if he were to decide to commit to USC. Senat can certainly help this Team.

Goose Creek LB Jalen Stevens has set three official visits. He will go to Georgia State this weekend, Appalachian State on the 18th and Arizona State on the 25th. He's considering a visit to Southern Miss for the final weekend.

Especially Senat with the loss of a space eater like Jerideau.
Senat reminds me of a taller Jerideau...Bryant reminds me more of Marquee Hall...hopefully a little more productive on the field.

Senat and Griffin would be great in the middle, both could redshirt this year as well and be primed for 4 years of "Oh you run up the middle I don't think so."
