Actually the city (taxpayers) gave them $60 million in land and infrastructure originally. But the stadium itself was built with private money and seat license fees.

Hey we gave the Bobcats $265 million and the Nascar Hall of Fame $200 million. At least the Panthers actually make the city money.

Was announced today that Jerry Richardson is going to mandate the sale of the Panthers 2 years after his death. Charlotte better put legal clauses in the $125 million gift to protect against someone moving the team after JR dies. Just saying.

Smeanaysts are saying that a move wold be highly unlikely b/c whoever buys the team would be buying the stadium as well. Why buy a stadium to move the team?

That said...I bet the city approved the deal with some sort of language in the contract that would lock the team to the city for a certain # of years. Which would explain why the meeting and vote took place during a closed session.

JR is such an entitled prick and one of the worst owners in the league. Which would be forgivable if he could deliver wins but instead he puts the same shitty product on the field year after year.

They were talking on the radio this morning that folks in LA want a team so bad, they would buy one and leave the stadium.

And our city council is full of idiots, so it wouldn't surprise me if they just blindly give Richardson the money. That's what they did for the Bobcats and Nascar HOF.

I'm just shocked Richardson doesn't want to keep the team in his family. He must really hate his kids.

I wonder what % of the team JR owns. I think that league rule stipulate that every team owner must have 51% ownership.

That siad I know that JR's daughter has a piece ofthe team and that the Levine family have a chuck as well. Wonder if those parties would be apt to sell or try and take majority?

Jerry Richardson owns the vast majority, so I assume he can do whatever he wants to with it. The assumption was his sons would take over one day, but if you remember he fired them, including Mark who was team president (and a major prick). But with all the money in Charlotte, I'm sure a group would step forward to buy it. Plus from what I understand, the NFL makes it very tough/expensive to relocate.

The current ownship group is made up of Johnny Harris, the Belks, Bissells, Levines,Erskine Bowles, and others.

Lotsof scratch in that group. Hopefully someone steps up to purchase the majority ownership.

I wish ownership would change. I'm almost to the point where I need to write them off until that happens. Did I hear that the "GM" is coming in after getting demoted by the giants and he's going to have to keep everyone who is already on staff? So basically richardson swapped marty hurney for a new scapegoat for his poor management decisions?

pretty sure just this past year he got a promotion with the NYG

also on a side note, and i know ppl prb wont like this b/c of what he has done with bobcats.....but any chance yall think Jordan might step up?

so i saw another mock draft that had us taking WR Keenan Allen from Cal with our first round pick.....gotta say im really disappointed in that if it turns out to be true, or maybe im just missing something about this guy but his numbers are far from impressive

last year he had 98 for 1343 and 6 TDs
this year he had 61 for 737 and 6 TDs, missed last 3 games of season...guessing to injury

falcons fan here but i watch all yalls games.. can yall please take a true pass rusher. i hate watching yalls games and seeing yall get no pressure. i think damontre moore from AandM or Jarvis.

Regarding Keenan Allen.

Cal was just awful this year. He was the only offensive player on that team.
He is a very good WR with great size and speed.

Moore and Jarvis won't drop to the Panthers pick.
Also the panthers were second in the NFL in sacks this year, and I believe first when coming from the defensive line.
