Sickerville (N.J.) Timber Creek class of 2014 receiver Adonis Jennings is on the board, landing his first offer from Rutgers on Monday of this week.

“I was excited,” Jennings started in. “I didn’t know it was coming. I knew something was going to happen, but I didn’t know I was going to get an offer this early.”

Though the recruiting process is just beginning for the 6-foot-3, 185-pound Jennings, he already knows Rutgers will be a school he considers to the finish line.

“Rutgers said they like me a lot,” Jennings recapped. “They like my enthusiasm and they like my tape and they decided to offer me.”

Jennings recently visited the Scarlet Knights campus for a spring practice.

“My family is from up there in New Brunswick,” Jennings said. “I like their campus. I like their stadium. I like their weight room. I like Rutgers.”

Jennings added that he could visit West Virginia and or Kentucky this weekend.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pound Jennings already has an offer from Rutgers while Virginia Tech, South Carolina, Penn State, Florida and a number of others have inquired about him. Jennings runs good routes, has excellent hands and size and is above average from a speed standpoint. We expect him to rate among the nation’s Top247 prospects for the Class of 2014 initially.

Wide receiver Adonis Jennings (Haddonfield, NJ/Timber Creek) measured 6-foot-2 and 185-pounds. He clocked a 4.73 40, 4.28 shuttle, 7.11 L-cone and 28-inch vertical.

Jennings is a bigger-bodied receiver that runs excellent routes and has good hands and was named the receiver MVP by the camp coaching staff. The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder thrives in camp settings and has excellent polish. Jennings, a four-star prospect according to 247Sports, has offers from Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Temple and a number of other programs.

Jennings was steady and productive. He was strong getting past jams at the line of scrimmage and showed an ability to get down the field. He also beat cornerbacks to the inside and to the outside, and he has the size (6-2, 185) to seal off defenders and make catches. The biggest mystery with Jennings is why he still sits with single-digit offers, but he performs in spring workouts like he did at the NFTC, that will change quickly.

Jennings has improved by leaps and bounds since last year. He has gotten taller, stronger, faster, and he made catches he previously couldn't make. Jennings, however, still has a tendency to drop easy balls and needs to get better at beating the press coverage, but he was clearly the best receiver at the RCS in Pittsburgh.
