Clowney's Other Hit

It's the offseason, so I thought I'd post a refresher video of a play not a lot of people have talked about.

It's not earth-shattering like the Michigan hit, but it might have been more important.

It basically won a game against a division rival in the SEC, which in many ways is more important than a bowl victory.

I am, of course, talking about Clowney's hit, and forced fumble that won the Tennessee game!

that play combined with the mich play and the sack/forced fumble vs UGA his freshman year, is in my mind, why he is a no doubt #1 overall pick in the NFL draft

The thing that makes him a such gamechanger IMO is just what the announcer said in the above video. "You cannot take a play off vs. Jadeveon Clowney."

As an offensive tackle you have to bring your A+ game every play and normally that isn't good enough. So every play the offense has to account for him in some fashion (double teams or chip him with a back) To me that give a big advantage to the defense.

Dooley was on one of those ESPNU shows and they were talking about the Outback hit. Dooley chimed in and mentioned that this hit was a contributing factor to why was on TV now instead of on the field.

That was a make or break play during a make or break game. How much would it have hurt to lose 2 straight road games, Lattimore, and lose to a not even bowl eligible Tennessee? The season hung on that play.

Would have been even better had we actually won the East. Clowney's plays would be even more memorable if they were part of a division winning Gamecock teams. We need to win the East his last season with us, NEXT YEAR!

Not just that we need to win the SEC, and a National Title in his last year, he is like Obi Wan, he is our only hope at this point, with this schedule.
