Class of 2014 DB Nicholas Ruffin (6-1 180) of Atlanta has offers from USC, LSU, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Louisiana-Lafayette. Ruffin named USC, LSU, Florida State, Vanderbilt and North Carolina as his top five in no order. He added this is not a final list. "I would like to make my decision by the start of my senior season but I am in no hurry," said Ruffin. When discussing his favorites he said of USC, "I like coach (Lorenzo) Ward. He made me feel at home. They have the most energetic crowd-I was there for the Georgia game-and it was one of my most enjoyable visits." As for LSU, Ruffin said, "It's home. My family is from there and I still have a lot of family in Louisiana. Of course, everybody knows it is DBU and it's a great school." Ruffin spoke of Vandy's academic prowess and James Franklin. "He is building something they can be proud of and I wouldn't mind being a part of that to be honest with you," said Ruffin. He has visited all five of his favorites. As a junior he totaled 67 tackles, four forced fumbles, three interceptions, nine pass deflections and five touchdowns. He does not have a leader.

I'm very happy that BAW convinced him to visit and he certainly deserves a lot of credit for that. But Georgia has been the big leader forever, so it would be a serious long shot for him to pick us. Having said that, every time we get a big time player to visit Columbia, it only reinforces around the country the notion that SC is becoming a major football program......."is becoming, not has become". So don't dismiss the fact that we are bringing lots of big time players here to visit. It all will pay dividends.

He has had interest in us for awhile, I can't say if you are categorically wrong, because I am not sure when that interest first germinated, but I am pretty sure he liked us even before BAW started recruiting him. He named us in a top 3 with UGA and Bama awhile back, I don't know why that hasn't been brought up.

UGA will have a choice to make in regards to Ruffin; if Ruffin wants to commit and UGA accepts then we will lose Safety commit Nick Glass. There are far more quality CBs in-state this year than safeties, so we might decide to hang onto Glass and try and get Parrish and Webster.

Isn't Ruffin a CB.....if so why do you lose Glass (safety) if Ruffin stays with GA.

Glass and Ruffin used to play together at St Pius and to say they don't like one another is an understatement. There's a good bit of animosity between the two, though I don't know exactly why.
