Blue is a little shorter in person than his listed height, but has a high motor. He wasn't able to show the Hokies coaches a lot after tweaking his groin in the morning during the 40-yard dash, but already holds a VT offer and said he couldn't sleep the night before because of his excitement.

Blue seeing garnet & black right now

Junior LB Joe Blue (5-11 230) of Dillon has already picked up offers from USC, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Auburn and Florida. Clemson and LSU are also showing him interest. And though it’s early, Blue has a favorite, USC. “When you go there, they make you feel at home and comfortable,” said Blue who has visited USC several times, most recently for the Showcase Camp last month. “I think I would fit in great on their defense. They run (linebackers) in some blitzes and pass coverage.” Blue said the fact two of his current teammates are committed to USC and a former teammate (Kwinton Smith) is already a Gamecock is an influence on him. He said Florida and Virginia Tech round out his top three. Blue said he was supposed to visit USC last Saturday but couldn’t make it. Despite the lean to USC, Blue said he will “wait a little while” before making a final decision. Last season he was in on 111 tackles with 6 sacks.

Hayes said junior LB Joe Blue has offers from USC, Florida, LSU, Southern Cal, Tennessee, NC State, Virginia Tech, Maryland and Alabama. Clemson also is showing interest and Tiger recruiter Robbie Caldwell was by the school last week. East Carolina also was in last week and USC scouted him last Friday in the state championship game. Blue has named USC and Florida as his favorites right now.

He wants to take several trips before deciding. He's probably still a few months away. All signs point to USC though.

I think Rivals lists him at 6'0" but I could be wrong. Either way, great pickup for us and heck of a way to start the 2014 class! Welcome, Joe!
