If you want to judge somebody from what the media reports that's you prerogative. But just like any other story the media sharks feed on we don't, and will never, know all the facts. We just know what they can report.

Is he a liar? Yes. Fraud? I don't know. Maybe he was duped and when he realized it he was to embarrassed to explain the story. Or maybe it was his own sick joke that became bigger than he ever dreamed of.

We've all been young and dumb, but very few of us have been young and dumb and on a comparable stage as Te'o.

I hate Notre Dame as much as the next guy, but... this is being blown way out of proportion.

I guess the motive is what I'm not sure about. Was he doing to get sympathy? Or was he duped? Or was it just a stupid prank that got out of control? We don't know and if he's smart he'll continue to be quiet.

That isnt neccesarily true. He thought she was dead..he met a girl at stanford and never saw ger again.. only chatted on phone or tweeted. that is the story..he was shocked in dec to get her phone call.

Consider that: He knew the perpetrator, Ronaiah Tuiasosopo. Tuiasosopo had a car accident around the same time as Te'o's non-existent girlfriend. Te'o and Tuiasosopo saw each other on occasion, as documented via twitter. Tuiasosopo is a former high school football player, but also a dancer and singer (you can draw your own conclusions about that).

Also, Te'o's girlfriend happened to conveniently die just a couple of months before his parents were supposed to officially meet her. This could have theoretically bailed him out with his parents...while also creating a great media story which happened to help with his Heisman campaign.

Anyway, that's my theory. It's the only thing that might help him save some face, as well. (Although he'd surely be facing a gigantic uphill battle with teammates and homophobes for the remainder of his life and career.)

The longer this goes on, the more his being gay is the only thing that really makes sense.
