Poster above you said "tall too" not "too tall". I love a CB with size. Look at the Seawawks DBs.. Big and physical to match up with larger receivers.

Man, I hope he commits. He a Griffen will make for a serious DT combo in the future. Although, I could see us move Griff to DE in that Rabbit package, he's quick for his size.

C2, we have historically put very good CBs in the NFL, and are coming off putting Gilmore in the top 10 of the draft... Yet we are struggling recruiting CBs when one would assume they would flock here.. Even more so with early playing time.

What gives?? If we can't reel in a top CB after putting one top 10 in the draft, then when?

Also, it appears whupping up on UGA really didn't do much in terms of recruiting, bummed about that... we have major advantages over UGA (better team, more exposure, playing time available, better coaching by far, etc), and before anyone mentions the more exposure, IIRC we were on ESPN as much as anybody in the country, and JD alone has gotten more exposure than that entire team (esp after the Hit)

We are struggling getting CBs? We have 3 solid ones already on board.

Ronnie Martin is in the boat. He had LSU and Nebraska offers coming out of high school.

Ali Groves has a solid offer sheet including one from Florida.

Pharoh Cooper has absolutely exploded the past 2 months.

So you take those guys and put them with Vic Hampton, Jimmy Legree, Ahmad Christian, Rico McWilliams, and guys like Chris Moody and Chaz Elder who can play both S and CB .. I think USC has done just fine at CB.

Also, you have to remember that Defensive Backs are like skill positions. They are abundant EVERY year. USC will get their quota there.

I'm guessing you are frustrated about Langley and rightfully so but he was a cherry on top. He wasn't brought on to fill a 'need' per se. USC had already got their number at CB before he jumped aboard, and you just don't turn down players like that.


As far as your Georgia game comment. Listen, one game does not mean you'll start grabbing 4 and 5 stars. One or two seasons aren't going to immediately jumpstart your recruiting. These years that USC is putting together are going to pay off in 2014, 2015, 2016. If USC didn't have such a bad coaching turnover, they might have done a little bit better this year. It takes a year for the new coaches to build relationships for future classes. Usually when the current cycle comes around the majority of recruits have a general idea of where they are going to go. Maybe not the exact school but they have a list that usually stays the same. Take a look at the 2014 class, USC is on A LOT of kid's list because they are going to be a trendy team (freaking Da'Shawn Hand has us in his Top 5 and will be visiting) and the fact that the new staff members have been forging new relationships for a year now. It'll be the same for 2015 and 2016.

The 2014 class looks to be very special. Also, I still am in awe that Hand has us in his top 5. I know there is no reason an elite DE shouldn't have us in his top 5, with the success we are having at the position, but I just have been a Gamecock fan for too long and have never seen us have early success with guys from that far away like we are having right now. It is a great change for us, and one I hope will continue to build on.
