Any reason why he wouldn't be, especially since it seems like we may not be getting K. Bryant? Numbers issue?

Oh I love our current CB's, Cooper should play on offense IMO though, so explosive! And is Christian for sure not playing baseball FT?
What I mean is for the future (after Vic, Legree, etc are gone), not next year.. In the past, our DB's were a weak spot IMO, missing tackles, getting burnt, etc., due to a lack of talent and no lock down corner. Our LB situation is in this mess due to not putting a priority on getting good talent there (which looks like it'll be fixed wit this class), and I just don't want to see that happen at the CB position.. we won't always have a dominant pass rush. I know in the recent past, our best CBs came from in state. From what I've seen, there hasn't been a top CB recruit in this state since Vic, and there isn't one for next year either. Yet a year after putting a CB top 10 in the draft, only a few top CBs have given us a look, and two are UGA bound (when they haven't put a CB in the 1st round since Champ Bailey IIRC). That's my main issue, we should be one of the most appealing schools to a top CB, yet are not. I see Elder as a future star at safety FWIW. I agree that 2014 should be a landmark recruiting year, but do we have any big CBs that favor us or we have a good shot at? Like I said, there isn't much big time talent instate at that position. Lastly, Just to build on what you said about coaches and relationships- how much does Quinn leaving Fla hurt them? And are there any potential switches that could favor us?

Getting our quota is different than getting our top targets, unless I'm reading that wrong

I like that all our DBs seem to get better with time. Before Spurrier got here, we'd have guys play lights out as freshmen and soph. then regress somehow and be pretty average as seniors.
Look at Legree and Hampton. They get better every year in the program. I'm not talking physical skills either. All of the guys C2 has listed can already run like the wind and have natural cat skills. I'm talking between the ear development. Legree is a new man. Hampton is a new man. I can't wait to see where Christian and Gurley and our young stable end up. We seem to be getting the most out of these kids. I was critical of our DB philosophy a few years ago under Whammy, but it seems things are really coming together of late. We lose Gilmore, and we just kept on chugging. We're not dominant or anything like that, but we seem to keep everything in front of us, not giving up anything too easy. If there is a bone to pick next year, let's dissect the linebacking situation.

Sorry, didn't realize you could not read- In the past, our DB's were a weak spot IMO, missing tackles, getting burnt, etc past= earlier in the HBC era.. I recall MANY MANY people upset about our secondary in years past.. not pulling that out of my a$$

I thought last class was really strong on the DB's. The froshies lookededed good too before they got hurt. I'm really only worried about linebacker. Not saying I would turn down another gilmore. If they flip the kid from UGA then we've stacked two classes of DBs that I would rank among the best in my lifetime for us and brown is still settling in. |

Of all our positions, we have done better with our DB than anything else in the NFL. Yes, we have had our issues, couple of years ago wasn't good, but I blame that on Ellis mostly having players playing out of position IMO.

THIS! Please come support the basketball team coming off a very nice win at LSU. Packing the CLA and being loud and supportive is one of the reasons we landed guys like Marcus, Jadeveon, etc...Plus, it should just be a great game to watch

I think I would prefer they just save the scholly rather than signing a guy just to "fill a need."

If he wants to be here, I'd be more than happy to have him. The more depth, the better.

Recruiting him as a safety or corner?

Man, our coaches know talent. My coaching friends in Ga said that Rico McWilliams and Elder were the best DBs in GA last year, forget about the ratings. TJ Gurley is a baller. Ronnie Martin is a baller. We have tons of talent so don't get your knickers in a wad. We are doing fine. |
