Ace leaving?

Good luck to Ace. I hate losing him, but so glad he chose to wear the Garnet & Black.

i can only wish him well, and hope that he has a great career. however, that said, this is a terrible move. and for all the guys who keep defending it by saying he was doing what was best for him... last time i checked, teammates are supposed to do what is right for the TEAM!!!! why is it that almost any player who puts himself before the team, any year he plays, is an asshole, but when they can make money it is ok? that's bullshit. i love ace, and think he was an excellent representative of our program. but i am soooooooooooo
sick of guys like him killing what we have going, every time we get this close. every time this team seems to be primed to win the sec, a key player leaves. and it would be one thing if they were projected to be the top pick, or at least early first round. but third round? really?

and for those saying he is doing what is right for him, i don't agree with that either. here is a quote from capt munnerland: Munnerlyn told the Charleston Post and Courier back in 2010:

"If I had it to do it over again, I would have stayed another year at South Carolina. I honestly feel like I cost myself a lot of money because I came out early. I felt like if I had stayed I would have gone a little higher in the draft and gotten a little more guaranteed money. But I made my decision, so I've got to live with it."

so yes, i wish ace well, and hope he has a great career, but i am pissed at his decision, sick of these guys killing this team every time we get something going and think he is making a huge mistake.

Ace is probably sick and tired of running routes and then turning around to see shaw scrambling or checking down to the halfback. & on top of that being in a run first offense. Just saying.. His body language was more apparent this season. Much like alshon the year before he left.

ESPN had an article up yesterday talking about how talented the draft is with defensive players. With so many teams needing defensive guys, I can see a lot of WRs falling in the draft, thus hurting Ace's stock. I would love to see him drafted high, but I doubt he does better than his draft grade of 4th round.

We will get a better idea after the combine.

i have been nothing but complimentary to ace, and have always stated that he was an excellent representative of this program. and i haven't changed on this stance. but to leave the team hanging, when projected 3rd or 4th round is a bad decision, and it doesn't look very team oriented to me. i disagreed with the decision, not with ace as a person or a player. there is a big difference, and i am afforded my opinion with the same right as anyone else. just because you disagree with it doesn't change that. we were always taught that the team comes first. i love how you guys praise a player for being a team first guy, and then reject the notion as soon as money becomes a part of the conversation. you are just part of the "me" generation, who always thinks of themselves over anything they are a part of. our country is moving in the wrong direction.

I and others disagree with Shaw's decisions at QB and you're one of the first ones to holler and scream about how my opinion is wrong and everyones "hating" on Shaw.

You can call me selfish too cause these guys leaving early does lower our chances at winning the East and building tradition. Especially the ones who don't even get picked in the first round and fall to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th rounds or the ones who don't get drafted at all. Ace will get drafted but he could have played himself into the first round next season and helped us win the SEC. Had Gilmore or Jeffrey stayed this past season, we would not have lost.
So there is a valid point that all these guys leaving early regresses us somewhat. Ace was a big reason why we could have been preseason top five next year. Yes, selfish and disappointed he said he would come back then leave. Dang Ace, one more year?

i never said you were wrong. i only listed points of fact, to show why i believed you were wrong. again, big difference. by the way i was typing, so how was i hollering or screaming. seriously man, get it together. several people started bashing shaw, instead of just making their points for dylan. i felt i needed to defend him, and that it was extremely disrespectful for a guy who is the leading career qb in usc history with a 17-3 record.

it blows my mind that players rated ten times higher than our guys, continue to show loyalty to those programs, and they keep winning championships, while our guys continue to leave when they aren't projected to be anywhere close to the first couple of rounds, and our fans continue to support this, even though it ultimately holds our program back. they want a championship, but continue to support one of the things most responsible for prohibiting it from happening. and they call me immature. lol!

in reference to the idea that you could move up in the draft if you came back you also could move down. we had more potential last year if we had gilmore and alshon, but thats no guarantee. i say that not in the sense that in life there are no guarantees, i mean we could have still lost that lsu game with the way we played. same thing with the florida game.

only losing one guy who we thought was more likely to come back is nothing to cry over, especially when we have depth at his position. cant blame someone for leaving early with a decent draft grade early when they just saw a guy on their team go from a first round lock to a 3rd rounder because of two major injuries. ace is healthy and he may be able to position himself into the 2nd round because of his return skills.

tavon austin from west virginia has comparable size to ace. he's listed as the no.1 senior wr on at least one draft site. we'll see how they compare in the workouts and ultimately where both players go.

Not likely. We picked up TJ Graham to be our slot WR last year in the 3rd round and McKelvin was one of the most dynamic punt returners in the game last year.
