Where Lawing was big in recruiting was as a closer on the DL prospects but on the road bringing in the big targets he hasn't been overly effective in years. It wouldn't surprise me. Word around Florida is muschsmp wants to stay at Florida as long as he's able to. He's only around 40 so that would mean the next 20+ years unless he gets a pink slip. (It's hard to imagine that emotionally unstable dunce lasting very long but the way he's stockpiling four star recruits he could probably hang on a while getting by on talent alone). I have no doubt he would like to stick around a long time and go down as the greatest coach at Florida football history. It may make sense to him to try to hurt whatever the greatest Coach in Florida football history is trying to build at South Carolina, and make it easier to try to beat him several times before he retires.

I know Urine Meyer admitted that beating South Carolina was a really big deal because of Spurrier and the shadow he had at Florida.

Just dont see us pulling in a big time replacement. Lawing was a rock for our defense and now who knows what it will bring. I hope Whammy has some great connections on the D line coach position.

Lawing leaving Carolina isn't a good thing, but I trust in Spurrier to hire someone better. Our program is strong enough to hire the best of the best. If Florida takes Lawing then good riddance. We will get someone better.

He is right. On a national scale basketball is more important because it is a revenue sport.

Seems some kind of personal issues were a big factor and that makes it easier to accept him leaving. We should all wish him the best and hope things turn out well for him.

From what I can gather BL he's not a great recruiter and his attitude conflicts with Wards. SOS didn't like his recruitment of Robertson, called it lazy, which resulted in a secondary violation. Called Carlos Dunlap drunk and pretty much rode him like he would his players. Of course CD ended up at Florida.

BL leaving is not necessarily a bad thing.

I've heard lots of stories about Lawing. From he's a great motivator and coach to he's a dick. I think he must be a pretty good coach because we have had lots of guys that were 2 and 3 stars who turned out pretty good. I only met him a couple of times and thought he was a dick. But I never had to play for him.

I think it's a good thing he's gone. Sounds like it was a character or chemistry issue.

Last year we lost 6 coaches and all the chatter was how are we going to sustain this success. This year helped to put some of those fears away and we look like we have a good group going forward. That transition gives me hope it can smoothly with Lawing leaving. He's a good coach and will be missed however I think we have enough talent and enough recruits interested in us that a high level D Line coach should be very interested in us.

I wonder how bad this is for us? Doesn't Ward do most of the scheming? Would it be the hurt in conditioning? I guess that I just felt that Ward was running all parts of the defense, but especially the front four.? Can someone comment specifically what is the worst part/s of this?

Aren't most outlets reporting it was more 'personal reasons' than cash or progress?

If he didn't want to be here or if there were personal issues in town with the staff or family, it's better for him to move on and likely better for the program. How effective of a coach or recruiter could someone be if they didn't want to be at their position?

All rumors aside, you either change jobs because 1. the new one is clearly a step up or more money or 2. you don't like your current job.

Inappropriate? He is now the DL coach for one of our main competitors. He now coaches the enemy.
