USC is not known to do pressers for staff hirings....Spurrier is not a media slut like Dabo...SOS is about work and family...

You can do whatever you want to do, and people can think whatever they want to think about it.

There seems to be some underlying thing here on Cockytalk that whenever someone's opinion is disagreed with that the people who disagree are trying to "police" the board or telling others what they can or cannot post. Just not true.

Here let me help you with that flaw in your thinking. You should be doubly appreciative of SOS and what he did to us and virtually every other SEC program he faced.

Because of Steve Spurrier the Gamecock athletic office likely got some serious phone calls from important boosters telling them that they were tired of supporting a losing program that seemd to be very happy with occasionally being a "smidge above mediocre". Because of SPurrier driving the point home really, REALLY well it probably forced the Gamecock athletic office to get off of their asses and find a way to get our program to become real contenders.

Had we played closer games the fanbase MIGHT have been more willing to accept our losing results. But when your team gets shoved around so badly for everyone to see then the dead weight gets cut off and kicked out the door; thus leading to us stepping up the effort to become winners.

So based on your type of thinking you (more than just about anyone else on this board) ought to love SPurrier for kicking our asses on a yearly basis. It is part of what lead us to where we are today.

Probably something at the media golf thing they do before the season. I believe that is how Sands and Robinson were introduced. Maybe even something at a press conference after Signing day.

Guys, don't pay attention to Red Rooster. He is one of the guys that hates Tebow with a passion, and it appears it is because Tebow is a strong Christian. I could be wrong on his logic behind hating Tebow, but that was my conclusion after reading his nonsense in the Tebow thread that was started this past Christmas. Folks over at TBS saying Adams is more of a "players coach" like Lorenzo. As a recruiter and coach you could not have asked for a better combo. An above avg recruiter and above average coach

First let me say I don't know any posters here on a personal level only by their posting cred. I don't know the new coach either but by reputation I know Ray Tanner, Whammy and SOS and am OK with this hire. My question is what about the next hire? A coach is not going to take a position at South Carolina based on the thoughts of Cockytalk posters but just how much can we continue to beat the crap out of each and every decision that is made by our football program? Do we not trust anyone to have a solid thought on a program on the upswing? It's like coach said just get somebody I don't care who and we all know thats not the way it happened.

Those of us that have been around this program for decades apparently just don't get it. Help me understand.

He sounds like a solid hire.
Whammy brought in Botkin and Sands, and I think those have turned out okay.
Ward knows what he wants on his defensive staff, and I think he has earned that benefit of the doubt with the product he has put on the field here while with Ellis Johnson, and this past season.
