Completely different situation. At least we have nice weather, a HOF coach, are in the best conference, plus our fans are rabid (compare that to the fan in maryland.. yes there is only one).

Funny that not a single top 10 player in maryland is going to maryland (so far) and all are going either South or West

Kendall Fuller, a stud 5 star MD CB, didn't even consider them IIRC.

I don't question or critique anyone's choice of school. It's a personal decision. I think it's incredibly immature to deride someone (especially a kid) b/c they elect to attend another university. Of course, I would certainly prefer everyone to attend USC.

I didn't want to stay home, either. I went to high school in Georgia, but I wanted to go out of state. I just can't get on someone who would rather stay home, either. There's a lot to making a decision about where you want to go to school.

As far as us taking a bunch of kids from GA and NC, well, yeah, cos those states are overflowing with HS talent, and the NC schools especially have shown a complete inability to develop top-flight NFL prospects. I just don't like when a local kid, who has options at USC or Clemson, would rather pack up and go somewhere else in the SEC. I'd understand if the in-state schools couldn't produce/develop talent, but both USC and Clemson have proven that they can.

If that's hypocritical, well then, so be it.

Its fine to stay home IF you have a national stage to play on. His decision to stay home would just show terrible business acumen(I know, he's 18). Pride is great, but its never paid the bills. Maryland will be train wreck for 2,3,4,.... who knows how many years.

the idea behind is that the recruiting outlets would not release his name, until he is on campus, so the school he is committed to can't call him up and try to convince him not to take the visit.

in general, does on the field success of a team have anything to do with a player making it to the NFL? I mean does going to So Cal or Texas as a 4 star make one more likely to go to the NFL than going to Northwestern? It seems to me that if you are good enough, the NFL will find you regardless of where you go to school.

Actually, as I mentioned earlier, that is misleading. He had a good freshman season individually, but he got almost zero pub, and has hardly been talked about nationally. The team sucked as well (at no cause of his own obviously). I would not call that great success.

The only time MD was talked about were in reference to the ugly uniforms or how every QB tore his ACL..
