Had he just rattled off the stat, it wouldn't have gotten much play. By going with an unorthodox action like giving the media a 'bonus' for knowing the stat, he's forcing any national media that wants to report on that odd bonus to also reference the elite company that South Carolina is amongst.

That is arguable. I would take Spurrier over Saban in building a program and improving an organization overall.

Spurrier is a straight shooter who makes mistakes and misjudges just like every one else on the planet-but you have no doubt his intentions and his loyalties-the man says what he is gonna do and does what he says. If he "takes a jab" at you he is hitting you with absolute truth in a witty way, he will not take liberties with facts or just pull something out of his ass. He will shoot you with your own gun.

He is a guy you want to be around because he is a living breathing encyclopedia of college football knowledge and a quotable well. He is going to demand your best and if you don't produce he is going to go another direction.

But I say "arguable" because Saban simply wins. Yes he is at Bama and they have the absolute best talent, a self-sustaining recruiting machine, the lure of tradition and national attention (I won't even get into uniforms) but he is perfect for that type of program and the results speak for themselves. He is the coach of the dynasty in college football in this day in age and he continues to find ways to navigate the pitfalls that have keep similar programs (USC, LSU, Texas, Notre Dame, ahem Florida) from being the perpetual National Title contender that Saban nutures. Saban is all serious and business against Notre Dame or against Alabama State and you can not tell by his coaching or expression whether his team is down by 21 or up by 21. More than winning, he coaches his teams to be perfect.
