Have We Fixed The Railing?

Just wondering if anything has been done in the offseason to fix the railing in the outfield that caused us some problems last year, here's a video, start at the 2:20 mark

That's not the railings fault, why would we fix that? The umps just need to be properly trained on what's a home run in our park

Here's how you fix the problem. Change the railing with a touch activated screen that when a ball hits the screen, The screen will turn on and display HOMERUN, also on the PA system, a recording of Ray Tanner will say HOMERUN. It will only be turned on when USC is at bat :)

Anyone remember that rail saving our bacon against MSU last year? Ump missed the call, kept the ball in play, so a should have been 3 run HR turned into a 2 run double. We won 8-7

If I remembering that game correctly, I think the MSU player ended up with a triple rather than a double on that call, and then scored shortly afterwards anyway on the next play. So that call did not turn out to make the difference for us.

I also remember the last game of the 2010 regular season (our lone win of the series against Florida) where I was standing next to the rail in right field when we hit the ball off the rail but did not get the home run call. The umpires should call it better, but they have consistently not gotten it right. That should be a point of emphasis in the pregame meeting at home plate by Holbrook this year.

That reminds me off another one. 2011, Georgia on Friday night. Walker roped one to right and it literally hit the rail that was in front of my left shin. I was screaming the entire time and the ump never gave me the time of day. Ball was gone, Walker ended up at 3rd and didn't score

As fans, if you have a railing seat, just bring a big roll of paper that goes on the table at the doctors office. Tape it to the front of the railing so that it will easily show marks when hit.
