After all the talk last week about him always wanting to play in the Iron Bowl, I had assumed after the visit, Auburn would be leading. So I'm actually feeling OK at this point.

I'm assuming Walton, Moore and Senat weren't waiting till NSD. Only Yannick, Bryant and Lyons were waiting till NSD.

^ Because we have an insane lack of depth and experience there.. the more stud recruit LB's we can bring in, the better.

FWIW I'm as big of a Kaiwan fan as anyone on here, he has a great frame and talent to match

reasonably so.

No LB on our roster has recorded a tackle in a game (at that position).

Kaiwan has 2 on special teams.
Cooper has 1 on special teams and a torn ACL.
Harris has 3 on special teams and may not even be a LB.

Shaq Wilson needed several years to get good. My guess is these guys will too. Rare for young LBs to come in and play mistake free. Look at Clemson's all-star recruits. They were decent, but haven't lived up to the hype yet. We'll have to wait and see.

Our Senior group of LBs was not great but it was a group that was made up of (2) 5th year seniors and (2) Seniors as well as a 3.5 year starter at SPUR in Holloman. They were a steady-mistake free group. We will not have that this season. You blow assignments when you have no experience. Look at how many mistakes our LBs made in 2010 when Shaq missed the season. He was the QB of the defense - he got everyone lined up properly.

We are counting on true frosh to fill our back up roles. We are counting on kids yet to make a tackle at the position to be starters.

I'm excited about Rainey moving over to LB. I'm ready to see Kaiwan in the Spring. I'm interested to see how Diggs plays SPUR since he was specifically recruited for that position. However, there are very legitimate concerns about our LB core because of the total lack of experience. Having a great DL in front of them is huge.

I don't disagree that the LB core is young, and of course its not an ideal situation, but its not a horrible situation either.

Wilson, Bowens, Smith, and Holloman definitely were a solid unit. But you never know, the young guys could actually turn out to be better. If we land some of these last few targets I think we will be better in the speed department at least.
