Is There Any Footage of "The Kick"?

I can't find any video links to coach Spurrier's game-winning 40-yard field goal against Auburn when he was quarterback at Florida.

Anyone know if there are links to a video clip?

Same thing with Taneyhill's signing of the Tiger Paw...

First thing I thought of was the rugby kick play we used to run under Lou. Y'all remember that? Actually worked a couple of times. Exciting play

Was it an actual drop kick?

Can you describe what happened? Never heard of this...

I believe he is referring to the punter would roll out to one side, the punter could then judge if he could run for it, if not, would 'rugby style' (not drop the ball, but kick it end over end) hoping for decent roll yardarge with coverage already down field. I believe we faked off of it maybe twice?

I saw the clip of the kick several months ago (don't remember where). It was nothing spectacular. As was the case back then, it was the straight on style kick (not a drop kick). I believe the only soccer style kickers back then (which eventually led to the way everyone does it now) were Charlie and Pete Gogilak (ms). One was with the NY Giants and one was with the Washington Redskins. I remember, as a kid, watching the first soccer style kick by one of those two brothers (can't remember which came first) and as he stood to the side to begin his movement toward the ball to kick it, thinking, what in the world is he doing? How can you kick a ball like that?

It would be great to have a kicker who could do the straight on style kick for XPs and for FGs up to about 40 yards and then switch to soccer style for anything longer. Of course, no one is going to train to do it.

The straight on style got the ball up in the air higher, quicker, and was generally believed to be more accurate, or travel more in a straight line, at least, where the soccer style kick is lower, but usually travel further.

Might ask around on the Florida boards to see if they can locate a clip.

There is a trail for the Spurrier "drop kick" but I can't find a thing...not even a still, of the "signing of the tigger paw"....I've exhausted everything I know trying to find it.... :-(

There was a program on SportSouth a few months back with Spurrier talking about his career that had the kick in it. You should be able to find it somewhere I would think.
