Our coaches don't drop the ball on recruits. Some of the kids just decide they would rather go somewhere else. I know this concept is foreign to many on here, but that's just the way it goes. Our coaches are very smart, they know how to evaluate talent better than most, and absolutely work their asses off. Is there any part of this post that you don't understand. If you think this time of year is stressful to us, how would you like to live under the pressure they live under every day of the year.

Well said. At the end of the day, it's a decision made by an 18-year old (with varying degrees of influence from his parents). There is only so much a coach/recruiter can control. Our coaches are doing a fine job, as evidenced by back to back 11-2 seasons.

Having said that, I would personally take on the pressure of college recruiting in a heart beat. I believe coaching/recruiting college football would be a blast...and a dream job for many on this site.

Being a recruiter is not for me. I enjoy following recruiting but I would not want to be a coach trying to sell a 17-18 year old kid on the school I coach at. It is a stressful and time consuming job. You are trying to convince a kid to make a life decision when he probably struggles to pick out his sneakers for that day of school.

I also don't think people understand the toll it takes on the kids. You have so many people pulling you in different directions.

You wanna work 20+ hours a day and be constantly criticized for the decisions of 18 year olds? Not to mention the effect being a coach/recruiter has on your family life.

No job security.....I'm sure many of them have lots of sleepless nights. It takes a special person to want to do that for a living. Having to deal with negative media reporting.

Our kids chose USC for two different reasons. The oldest went there because of her major. The youngest because she wanted to declare undecided and she had a roomate. They have many reasons for their selection. I am sure coaches all tell them their program is the best.

May I ask what you do for a living....I doubt any of us could handle the pressure.
