LOVE the departed. one of my all time favorites.... and Goodfella's is second.

i'd also love to see a really classy take on the old school gangster world.

Michael is really intense and tormented in the Pacino scenes. You can tell when he hits Kay that years and years of outrage are coming out at her. It is one of the best stories ever.

And there are all these smaller roles that are kick ass. Clemenza in the early years (I cant remember his name but he was the limo driver in Spinal Tap). Then, the whole scene of Vito going for revenge against Don Ciccio.

Also, the Hyman Roth story is real. If you look at Meyer Lansky, that's where he got the idea. It is factual right down to the Moe Greene payback. What a story.

And it has the best one liners of the two movies. The one thing it is lacking, obviously, is the Brando role, which I liked, but it makes up for it because both DeNiro and Pacino are on top of their game.

Can't argue with any of that.

BTW, Clemenza was my favorite also, and the actor playing the young version was Bruno Kirby. He's now deceased. :-(

I will agree with what others said about Godfather 2. I just the love the dual stories showing how both Vito and Michael Corleone rose to power. I have the Godfather Theme as my ringtone for when the wife calls.

State of Grace- Irish mob in NYC, stars Ed Harris, Sean Penn and Gary Oldman

Miller's Crossing- 1920's about Irish vs Italian mobs in ? City, stars Gabriel Byrne, Jon Polito and Albert Finney and written/directed by the Coen brothers.

Here we go again. "The Departed" is one of the most crappiest, worst movies I have ever seen in my life and without question the most overrated movie in my lifetime

The lameness of that movie cannot be put into words.

It sucks shriveled cat balls. ALL OF IT. Every scene, every cheesy LAME strained "Bahston" accent each of those lame-ass actors uses. F all of them and F that crap movie.

Yeah, like a movie with Maahk Waaahlberg trying to sound like he's from Boston is good.

Jack Nicholson embarrassed his entire career and officially sucks now that he was in that turd of a film.

I have dealt with this issue before and all I can do is bash keyboards over it. That movie is PURE CRAP.

Agreed! Absolutely one of my top 10 films. I think I know every scene and every line in each scene. My wife rolls her eyes whenever she catches me watching it, cause I will watch it whenever it is on.

Public Enemies would get my vote for one of the best mob books. Very thorough writing.

However, the movie only covered a fraction of the book, which made it disappointing in my eyes.

I watched "The Untouchables" last night. My internet went down about a fourth of the way through, but to me, it seems like it is VERY similar to "Gangster Squad". Am I right on that?
