Does anyone know how we stand with Demetrius Henry of the 2013 class?

Not unless we lose out on one of our 3 commitments, or a scholly player on the team that would be on the team in 2013 leaves the program.....

Scholarship players on the roster for 2013:

1) Carrera
2) Chatkevicius
3) Geathers
4) Kacinas
5) Leonard
6) Richardson
7) Slawson
8) Smith
9) Williams
10) Tyrone Johnson (transfer from Villanova)

Committed prospects from 2013 class:

11) McKie
12) Ringer
13) Thornwell

You can only have 13 scholarship players in Division I men's basketball. Bruce Ellington is on a football scholarship so he's essentially like a walk-on for basketball (I forgot about him in a another thread). So if we get in all 3 prospects we now have committed and everyone returns from this year's roster, we'll have a full 13. With Ellington who will be a senior for basketball in 2013, it'll be like having 14 scholarship-caliber players using only 13, so we're fortunate in that regard...

These three are not commitments. They have all signed.

Per his twitter. USF, UM, and South Carolina are in his final 3 in no order. Frank Martin and Co. needs to close this.

Its hard to feel confident about basketball recruiting right now given the ongoing struggles of our program. That being said, I'm sure Frank knows what he's doing. If Demetrius can realize that the improvement of our program is a process that doesn't happen overnight, I think he'll be a Gamecock. It's hard not to view Miami and USF as the favorite though; USF is a 15 minute drive from where Demetrius lives, and Miami is well on their way to a high tournament seed with a great coach in Jim Larranaga, as well as being in-state. Seems like we are already full unless there is going to be some attrition somewhere along the line, but I never was good with math anyway.

I would imagine one or two will transfer out. Happens at every school every year it seems like. I doubt the coaches would continue to recruit him if they didn't think there would be some attrition.

Trust me, if we get him they will find room for him.
(At the rate he is going, it wouldn't surprise me if Damien Leonard left after this year).

All I know is that if we can sign and get Henry in with McKie, Sindarius and Ringer, it would give a solid base to build around.
Add those guys with Carrera and the 'Nova PG, and the next installment of basketball is way ahead of what we have now.
Because honestly, Thonrwell, Ringer and Henry all but likely start day one with Carrera and Ellington.

Throw that with the 'Nova transfer, Brenton Williams, Richardson, Kacinas and Chatkevicus gives a solid two-deep in my opinion.
