LB Quinton Powell of Daytona Beach, FL won't get a NLI from USC despite returning the Gamecocks to his short list after Florida dropped him. A source said Sunday the Gamecocks will not have room for Powell who also listed Southern Cal, Miami and Oregon on his final list. Powell never took an official visit to USC. His only official visits were to Southern Cal and Miami. He is scheduled to announce on ESPNU Wednesday at 12:15 PM.

ATH Mykal Moody of Conway will take an official visit to East Carolina this weekend, his first. Moody has East Carolina and Marshall as his top two but will not visit Marshall. "I was supposed to go last weekend but I couldn't make it so I've just been talking to the coaches," said Moody. Moody did not disclose a leader but says he will make his decision Wednesday. As for East Carolina he said, "I talked to the coaches last night and now I'm going up to see what it's like. We'll see how it goes."

Reports are that his family are sold on USC. The staff won them over and that is usually the thing that tips the scales. But Keith, on the otherhand, seems very hot & cold about USC. When he visits or talks to the coaches, it seems as though USC shoots up the list but once those visits and talks wear off, its back to what is more comfortable to him IMO .. an instate school. Just my observation.

We have a max of 5 schollies remaining since Park (EE), Mitch (EE), and Vickers (prep school placement) will not sign LOIs. Martin, I believe signed an LOI during the JUCO Dec. early signing period. At this point, we have 20 commitments of which 17 will sign LOIs. 22-(20-3) = 5. I think we will sign 2-3 more this year, and then carry over 3-2 to next year.

I don't know the answer. Maybe because he had the chance to take an OV and canceled it. Maybe we don't want another SPUR since that is what Powell is. Maybe we want to carry the scholarship over for 2014.
