I'm pretty sure the close game had everything to do with that.

I read Madonna's performance last year drew more viewers than the halftime this year.

The game actually didn't get top 10 ratings in San Fran.
But hey it's the NFL. They could have two high school teams playing and people will watch the Super Bowl

The refs were horrible. I live in CA and was cheering for the 49ers although I don't have a team. In the end, I didn't care that much who won. However, refs were losing control of that game with the trash talking, an almost brawl, and they didn't step in, throw flags, and stop it. That was ugly. They were afraid to make calls like they didn't want to be a part of the headlines. However, not calling plays like they were supposed to - on both sides - make them a story (not necessarily the headline).

Im so happy the Ravens won!

Itll be interesting to see how the off season will be with the salary cap. We have a few free agents coming up like Ed Reed, Flacco and Anquan. Without those guys we wouldn't have won.

Is that dude not getting held by two guys? there was also a block in the back right after that. The refs were horrible with most of the benefit going to the Ravens. They acted like they were scared of the Ravens early. The Ravens were shoving way after the whistle. The dude looked right at a ref and shoved him with two hands. Ed Reed was clearly offsides on the two point conversion. Crabtree was held. The Ravens got away with holding calls on the SF WR.
All that being said the 49ers were not ready for that stage. First play and you line up wrong. Offsides on the defense. 2nd and goal from the 5 and you throw the balls three times. They weren't prepared near as well as the Ravens.

I agree it was really on the 49erz staff. I do think that refs let the play i believe the ravens had two penalties and the niners had six. The refs were horrible in the fact that they let the ravens dictate how the game was going to be played. I thought there were way more missed obvious calls that benefited the ravens while there were missed calls that benecited the niners but no where near egregious. Will say that was one of the best super bowls i remember
