After almost 40 years, surprises don't work real well anymore. Maybe we'll go out of town for a couple of days.....probably the Greenbrier, about 3 hours away....that's her favorite....it's the best, expensive, but worth it.....plus with her putting up with me all these years, I guess it's the least I can do.....and they have a casino.

Last year on Valentine's Day my oldest daughter and her children came to visit us because her husband was at the NTC in California training for his upcoming deployment so she was alone. I told her to stay with us so my husband and I took her and her babies out to dinner that evening.

However, on Valentine's morning I woke up and came downstairs to retrieve my usual cup of coffee and saw on the counter a big Shane Co. bag. For those of you that don't know who that is - it's a privately owned jewelery store that has about 20 stores throughout the USA. Anyway, inside those bags were three fancy boxes which were tied with a beautiful garnet silk ribbon on each. One of the boxes contained a necklace, the next a matching bracelet, and finally the 3rd box contained matching earrings. The set was gorgeous and I was completely surprised. It's a white gold chain necklace with onyx and some other type of dark pink stone on it that came from South America or someplace near there, but I don't remember the name of the stone. The set is so pretty and I wear it all of the time.

I do plan to get my husband something and it looks like he wants a pair of dress shoes, so that's what I'll get him. Oh, that and a card. :)

We never go out to eat on Valentine's Day anymore. It is just too much of a hassle getting reservations and it is always crowded. We will probably go to dinner on the 11th or 12th, and then she will get a card on the 14th. Maybe I should try those Sherry's Berrys that 107.5 is always pimping out.

I am pretty sure we agreed to upgrade our cell phones on Valentine's Day since it has been like 3 years since we got new ones.
