I was talking with my cousin over the phone today and he mentioned how Tech was really going after Scott and "felt good about their chances". I needed that laugh, it'd been a rough day up until that point.

2014 RB Dorrell Scott of Havelock, NC is interested in several schools but, once again, named USC his leader. When asked if he had a top five he said, "Not really. South Carolina is my favorite." The Tar Heel State running back is beginning to schedule his junior day visits and has an idea of some of the schools he would like to see. "Probably South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee and NC State." he said. "I'm sure I'll go to more junior days...I am just not not sure where yet." His offers include USC, Ohio State, Maryland, NC State, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida State, Virginia Tech and East Carolina among others.

RB Dorrell Scott of Havelock, NC has had USC out front for some time and the Gamecocks continue to lead for his services. Scott attended a junior day at USC this past Saturday where he had an opportunity to visit with several coaches. He met with head coach Steve Spurrier, running back coach Everett Sands and defensive line coach Zeke Adams. "They were just telling me how much they want me to be a Gamecock," said Scott. "They're telling me that I'm the number one (running) back on their board and they would love to have me." As for coach Adams, Scott said, "I think he is taking over my area," which would make Adams Scott's primary recruiter. Scott has plans to attend other junior days but has not scheduled any trips. He has nt time frame for a decision.

Havelock back on campus - Havelock (N.C.) High has been good to the Gamecocks in recent years and they hope that trend continues with the class of 2014 and 2015.

The Gamecocks landed starting left tackle Corey Robinson and class of 2013 prospects Pharoh Cooper and Kendal Vickers from the program previously.
On Saturday, South Carolina's top running back target, 2014 four-star Derrell Scott visited along with his class of 2015 teammate, WR Michael Bowman.
Scott has seen the program many times before.

"It was good," Scott said. "They showed us around, basically. I've been here before but it was the first time for my mom and my brother. They got to see the place and all that."

Scott says his family also enjoyed the trip.

"I think they thought it was a really nice place," he said. "They liked it."

Former defensive line coach Brad Lawing used to recruit the school, but new defensive line coach Deke Adams has taken over that role.

"He seems pretty cool. He seems like a really cool guy," Scott says.
With Lawing's departure, Scott's relationship with running backs coach Everette Sands has also been important.

"I just spent more time with Coach Sands, my position coach," Scott said. "We've got a good relationship. We were watching film today and just looking at plays and stuff like that."

Scott says that South Carolina remains his long-time leader with Ohio State, Notre Dame and Tennessee clustered behind it.

Scott plans to make a decision after his senior season.

While Scott already has a good feel for his recruitment, Bowman's is first starting.
South Carolina was the first to offer and he's since picked up offers from North Carolina, North Carolina State and ECU.

"I liked it, but it was my first time being here," Bowman said of the trip, "so I might come back next time too."

The 5-foot-11, 181-pound Scott is rated the No. 1 all-purpose back in the county by 247Sports.

I am sold. Nice special effects in his video, but it doesn't sniff the greatest of all time...Mike Davis w gun shots, ties burning rubber, as well as special effects & super slow motion.

The statement I'm a out to make is way out of line, and he is not the greatest RB of all time, but IMO he has a few moves that remind me of Barry Sanders...straight up jukes kids out of their jock straps & breaks ankles.....slippery.

Yeah, I agree. Marcus could shift from 4th gear to 2nd & then into 5th. This kid's 5th gear, however, is unreal. If he fills out, Lord help the guys trying to tackle him.

He is faster and more shifty than Lattimore. What Marcus has is size, vision, determination, and leg drive. Scott looks like a very special back though.. He can stop on a dime and change direction very quickly.
