Not average IMO. Not quite as good as Bama, LSU, Florida, and such, but good enough to compete and beat those guys. And yes, it's good enough to compete for a National Championship with the players we already have, despite Rivals saying we can not.

You know in a way I am starting to think this class may become our best over acheived class ever due to the negative comments. Certainly hope so. It would be interesting to see where we/they stand in 3 years. Looking forward to watching.

Anybody know who the kickers are joining the team? I don't subscribe to gogamecocks, but saw the headline in the State paper we have two kickers onboard.

Not average IMO. Not quite as good as Bama, LSU, Florida, and such, but good enough to compete and beat those guys. And yes, it's good enough to compete for a National Championship with the players we already have, despite Rivals saying we can not.

According to Rivals, we have eight 4* guys that rate 5.8 or above......then we have seven with a 5.7 that are 3*......that's only .1 difference. Rating groups can never be that exact. That's 15 guys that are all really quality players. Then there are five at 5.6.....only another small notch below the top 15, then one at 5.5 which is also a 3*. Every single one of our players could be a legitimate starter on our team in a year or two. I don't ever remember us having a class where our worst recruit was a 3* with a 5.5.....this class is absolutely solid.

um. okay... I'll save this post I guess and we'll see. It's hard for me to judge because his highlights are of him playing QB and his going play DB for us.

I really like our class. Sure, we missed on a couple high profile recruits, but we got a lot of solid recruits for the positions of need.
-We have 3 solid DB's. Martin has more experience, Groves has a QB's vision, and Pharoh was one of the best overall players in NC.
-At LB I really wanted Yannick to come here, but Walton, Moore, Turner, Bryant, Johnson, and Mo give us a lot of people to try out for the 2 Deep.
-At RB we got two great ones in Smith and Williams. Williams was a top 10 APB and Smith was an 8A All State selection for FL.

I also really like how we recruited a bunch of OL, b/c OL has been our weak link during SOS's era. I we keep adding quality depth, we'll find the championship level grouping of them.

Rodgers, Smith (look at his production in the highest and toughest level of FL football), and Martin should also be 4* in your list, as well as possibly Vonashek (look at his offer list and size).

Hey if our worst recruit in a class is 2* Patrick DiMarco, Justice Cunningham, and Sidney Rice, I think I'd find a way to survive :)

But it's like someone else said - I can legitimately see every single player in this class becoming a quality performer...and some that will surprise the hell out of some folks.

I'm projecting to college, not really looking at HS production. Rogers needs to get a lot stronger and improve his agility big time. He is really raw. Vonashek: sites are varying his weight from 255-270 He needs to ad on some weight. Jamari Smith: I don't know, I liked his film I just wasn't wowed by him. Ronnie Martin was injured a lot it seems at Fork Union. Some of these fuys I just have a ton of film on and it if not, I will probably defer to Rivals, and scout and 247. I do think everyone one them is good enough to help us in some way.

After you posted it I did see some of his Junior highlights I had not seen before. Not a lot defense in it but some. He can hit, and he can cut down angles very well. He is listed to have 4.4 speed. I would think about giving 4 stars but, I'd need to see more film of him on defense. Maybe if I had his senior highlights.

If you were projecting to college, wouldn't Vonashek and Nat Rodgers be higher rated due to being raw (potential)? Wouldn't Gerald Turner be rated lower due to seemingly outgrowing his position(LB)? You seem to be contradicting yourself- you say you don't look at HS production but project to college, yet you penalize those who are raw and just need time but have loads of talent.

According to the website for the Chris Sailer Kicking School, PK Elliott Fry of Carrollton, TX has accepted an offer as a preferred walk-on at USC. Sailer ranked Fry as the #8 kicker in his class and as a 5-star kicking prospect which equates to a Division One prospect.

Also have a preferred walk on with the place kicker from Myrtle Beach HS, Max Huggins. Both seem capable.

Everyone is raw, I'm saying some are more so than others in my eyes. And my opinion IS the most important TO ME. In fact it's the only one that matters. But any way, I put as much stock in to recruiting rankings and ratings (including my own) as I do pre-season polls. Which is practically nothing. Like Spurrier, I prefer to celebrate on Saturdays in the fall. Oh and as far as Turner goes. He is a good football player that would be 4 star in my eyes as a DE or a LB. A low 4 star but still. And did you see Rogers in those drills at the Under Armour Camp? He needs major work, both coaching and physically. More so than Knott and Park.

Throw the star ratings out the door now. Time to see what happens when they button up their chin straps this summer. We shall see, but the LB recruits better have balls that go clank bc those boys will have to play. Other than the LBs, Cooper, Brown, Williams, and Griffin have a shot at PT this year. We shall see.
