Honestly... kentucky is a bigger threat now. I think its between UK and SC. They are selling to barker that he can help change the culture. Hes buying in.

Always hard to beat the in-state schools, especially when they sell the changing the culture approach. Going to be tough to hold off UK, but hopefully we can do it.

This'll be a battle as long as OSU doesn't swoop in. Fortunately both teams can't use the depth chart against each other. While USC has Thompson/Nosovitch/Mitch .. UK has Towles/Winston/recruit they signed this year. I think Maxwell is back too. So basically it looks like its going to come down to does he want to play SEC football instate or out of state.

USC needs to get him on campus again.

i dont think OSU is going to be much of a factor even if they offer anymore. Barker likes the idea of being the number one target and i think Urban Meyer made it obvious that Barker is not the #1 option.

Yeah but Meyer typically gets who he wants. Couple of red carpet visits to the 'Shoe and I'm sure any hard feelings would be mended.

Not to mention, it is easy to feel that way about a school when you don't have an offer from them. Things change when the offer actually comes in.

Stoops has not proven anything as a HC yet and KY's program will remain a bottom dweller for a while. Only 1 Stoops has proven to be a good HC.

Doesn't matter what he has proven at the moment. He can sell the future at UK for a couple of seasons at least to start. If his teams are garbage after year 3 then that pitch becomes obsolete. UK is going to see a surge in their recruiting these next couple of seasons. Happens with most new head coaches.

I mean the guy is coming off a few BIG recruiting wins by keeping instate studs Jason Hatcher and Ryan Timmons home so it should come to no surprise that they are gaining ground with Barker.

Perhaps Stoops record at Arizona won't work against him. What's working against us is SOS leaving after Mitch......so Barker won't get 4 years of him. Also, with Nosovitch a rs freshman and Mitch just starting his 4-5 years here, we're in good shape with QB. If we get Barker fine, but if not, I don't see QB being a big need for 2014.

Sorry, but with 11+ more months to go to 2014 NSD, I am not going to worry about what some unknown "buddy" of an informed poster says of a prospect's recruitment. Barker will still make several visits to many schools and have numerous contacts with coaches, not even considering all of the other twists and turns that occur during recruiting. If we miss on Barker, it will not that big of a deal since there are other top QB recruits that we can pursue and are looking at, and it is not a position of need in this cycle.

Well seeing as his commitment date is either march or april id say right now is pretty important

UK has a ton of recruiting momentum right now (if you takes things into context, they had 0 with the old coaching staff) and this new staff made Barker a huge priority and is selling him on being the savior for his home state school.

Time for Mangus to find QB #2 on this list.

ETG wouldn't go that far just yet. He is supposed to be on campus for the Spring Game so we will see where we stand after that. Though I would hope we had a backup plan all along.
