Good things have happened.

1) Justin Upton will be introduced today
2) Phillies signed Joe Mather and Chad Durbin
3) Gio Gonzalez was mentioned in a PED report
4) Melky was mentioned in the same report.

I have trouble deciding between them.

you've got

1. mr locked out the refs over what amounts to pocket change so I have to watch the green bay/seattle debacle on MNF

2. mr I will do anything to keep from getting sued, because player safety is important to me (but still push for an 18 game season).

3. mr its not important to decide a winner this time, but next time it counts.

or

4. mr i'm going to block a trade between two willing parties and make rulings on other trivial matters because i need to feel important.


...but mr Simmons makes good points.

Oh no the Phils signed endless unrealized potential Mather and decievingly low ERA Durbin. Watch out. Those rumors that their rediculous spending on aging stars would catch up with them are finally silenced.

And they are old as dirt. And they signed Delmon Young and Ben Revere this offseason. Ruiz, Howard, Utley, and Rollins will all be applying more Medicare while our guys are applying for arbitration.

Ha. I think best case senario for them would be leading the NL East in wins after 40 games before they start to break down.

More likely, they finish forth ahead of the marlins while having the majority of their starters on the all-injured squad.

Cant wait for this season to start my girlfriend got me the holiday ticket package for christmas so i got opening day against the phillies, may 4th againts the mets. June 1st against the nats, and july 4th against tbe marlins. Cannot wait.

Anyone read the comments Luis Gonzales made about Justin Upton right after the trade. Classless, whether they are true or not. To me they reek of sour grapes.

He should fire Boras now. I'm sure he would've gotten at least an Upton-like deal from us had they not tried to break our budget.

I prefer Upton long term anyway. (assuming he does not go into prima dona, pout mode.) I think his main skill (speed) is going to start leaving him in the near future. Potentially as early as one year from now.

On a more tangible note, this means we get a draft pick compensation from cleveland. Anyone know where they pick?

and finally on a Buck Foras note: Buck Foras. I hope his clients start leaving him in droves. I've never cared for malcontents in general and Boras just seems to wreck any ownership/player relationship that he gets near.

We don't get there draft pick. Their #5 overall pick disappears and we get a compensation pick sandwiched between the first and second round.

thanks. I assume there is some order to the sandwich picks. is that based on value of the player lost in FA or the pick lost by the team getting the FA. Or none of the above?
