I don't understand.


I don't understand why we are seeing articles and debates about Clowney sitting out next season.

I have not heard or seen any interview with Clowney or anyone inside the program that even hints at such an idea.

So why Clowney?

Is he the clear cut number 1 player in next year's draft? I ask because I have not seen this argument made for any other player in the last 6 or so years.

I guess Clowney is the first player to be so good as a true sophomore? Is that it?

Isn't Johnny Football a redshirt sophomore next year? Is there talk of him sitting out? I believe the rule is that they have to be three years removed from high school.


I just don't see why this is being discussed and in such a singular way.

I'm pretty sure Clowney would have been drafted out of high school in the first round and after his freshman year would have been a top 5 pick. He has proved enough to everyone for that which is why he's the focus of discussion, plus he's also on a team with a first round projection that had season ending injuries twice.

They didn't just sit out. They tried to challenge the NFLs draft rule and head to it early.
They initially won and hired agents then the NFL came back and said no.
Since they hired agents they were deemed ineligible.

The next year Mike Williams was still a top ten pick and signed a contract with Guaranteed 10 million dollars.

So I wouldn't say it didn't work out for Mike Williams.
