You don't have to get in trouble to let other aspects of college life keep you from reaching your full potential. We all knew about Garcia's issues because he kept getting caught doing extremely dumb things repeatedly. I really don't think the end results of Garcia's career would have been any different if he hasn't continued to be caught in the public eye. The actions would have had negative consequences even without the suspension and publicity.

Stephen Garcia trends on Twitter more than any other player we have had, I will say that. You can search his name on any given day and I am sure some reference to him, albeit usually negative, will be in the results. Made a name for himself for sure.

MELVIN! and it isn't even close. melvin would have to go down as one of my top three favorite players to ever play here. he was top shelf in every aspect of his relationship with this university. and for those few writing about the contributions stephen made to the football team, i would say he took as much, if not more away from the team as he ever gave to the team. i defended him many, many times on here. but when you go back and look at the games when he was still qb, they were nightmares. yeah he had a few great games, but he drove spurrier nuts, and he had a knack for screwing up at just the right time to cost the team everything. no, melvin contributed ten times more to the team than garcia ever did.
