I just want to blame this whole thing on whichever poster on here started a thread a while back about how Clowney should sit out. Other boards pick up that kind of garbage, and then reporters see it on the different boards, and then they start talking about it, and boom, here we are.

Part of me wonders if any exposure is good exposure, at least people are seeing our team in the news and its not negative. If anything, letting everyone see our players again and again has to be good for recruiting I'd hope.

What are we angry about here? We don't really think that some newspaper articles and/or sports talk shows are giving him some idea that hadn't already been discussed with him or that he hadn't thought about before do we? I don't think anything that is wriiten or discussed with effect his decision and this is pretty strong exposure that we are getting out of these discussions. There are going to be a lot of casual fans tuning in to see the Gamecocks play this year because of these talks......and his hit in the Outback bowl. Seems like a plus to me

I sure hope he plays and we all do as gamecock fans, but looking at it objectively there is no legitimate reason why he should play. He's already the 1st pick and can only risk injury by playing, he can't improve his status is basically only risking injury

Football players want to play and if he was to sit out what kind of message does that send to NFL coaches, GM's and future teamates. Sure, there is no reason for him to do anything this Spring besides S&T but if he was to sit out an entire season he would no longer be the #1 pick. Besides, how is he going to win the Heisman from his Living room.

To a degree its a plus, but these are still very impressionable young men. Here at Carolina I've seen quite a few leave early because of the (usually generated, not in this case) hype around them. They have a few people talking about how they have NFL bodies, or NFL legacies as family members played there, and they decide to leave early. Usually (since most are generated hype, after all) they don't do as well in the pros as they imagined.

What is strange to me, and maybe all programs are like this and I am just not privy to it, is that it seems to be our local media that comes up with these ideas the most. That or sometimes even our coaches. (The ones we had in the past, anyway) It does give us some good exposure, but it also has to make the family members and Clowney himself at least think about it.

JD doesn't play a position that frequently sees a lot of MAJOR injuries and that's why all of these people are saying he should sit out. If he was a running back that has a 30 yard per carry average ... MAYBE.

At hit position, unless someone does a dirty play, the biggest injury you normally see is a broken finger or maybe a torn muscle.

We live in pro football world so of course there will be more in favor of him sitting out.
I don't see it as people afraid of him, I see it as people wanting him to play for their professional team
