I was told shortly after USC offered Barker that the staff wants to see how Connor Mitch looks this Spring before going full bore on a pocket passer in back to back classes. I think if the offensive line shows some improvement this Spring, you'll see an offer out to Harris or someone like him if USC misses on Barker.

Pretty amazing that he doesn't have any offers with that huge arm. It seems like everyone wants that dual threat now.

FWIW, 247 actually ranks him higher than Barker overall. However, I can see why people would want Barker first.

Will we extend an offer to Harris before we know what Barker is doing?

I think they'll follow the same plan that they did last year. When they missed on Hackenberg, they waited a month or two then offered Olsen and Mitch. I imagine GA will take his time if he misses on Barker. Maybe go watch some of these passers at their high school spring practices then go from there.

Given our history under GA, I would be surprised if we didn't have our QB in the boat by the end of the Summer at the latest.

Outside of McEvoy, we've gotten our signal callers pretty early.

Well I think if USC was his first offer and only offer, they would be right at the top of his list but as it is with most prospects, it just depends who else goes in on him. I'm really curious as to hear what the knock is on him. I can understand SEC schools not offering but you would think some ACC, Big East, CUSA schools would've extended offers by now. Kind of a head scratcher. But who knows, he might see a rush of offers this Spring and Summer.

USC is interested, thats for sure. I'm thinking he could be a camp kid?

I have a hard time thinking we're going to get this guy in the end. He's too good not get big offers from elsewhere and our offense right now looks very different from an offense he would be in. Plus we are making it obvious he is our 2nd choice.

You realize any team that has offered another QB had made him their 2nd choice to this point right? Sounds like we are about even with everyone else in that regard. He is definitely a prospect I wouldn't mind landing. It will be interesting to see where we go if we miss on Barker.

I'm in this group as well. Still early, so perhaps schools are still evaluating.

I will say, he does have a very impressive list of schools on his Rivals and ESPN page.

Very good point about being a passer not a thrower. I won't critique Barker - haven't seen enough of him - but think the Thompson to Shaw is a perfect example of the difference. A QB needs to have touch and the ability to drop the ball into holes. That ability has nothing to do with arm strength, but more of a natural skill.
