UNC Invited to B1G?

I do believe UNC or Duke wouldn't join the SEC because of the notion that is inferior in Academics.

They'd go the Big10 before SEC.

But we've been hearing this for months now.

If the University of Texas came knocking on the door. They'd take them.

Texas signed over the tv rights for 15 years I think so it is a no go along with any other member of that conference. Now if the conference was dissolving then they would take them but UT had their chance and passed. Oklahoma did the same thing which makes no sense.

I know that. The Big 12 changed their revenue sharing model and the conference looks "healthy"

Yeah the academic snobs would never allow themselves to associate with us. Delaney is also a unc alum so there is that connection but I agree with a previous poster. Vatech and NCSU will be who we probably get.

The SEC does not have the North Carolina market currently. Taking UNC and Duke as a package would give them that. It's not the same as not taking a team from a market that the conference already has. Bad comparison.

Yes and taking 2 schools from the same media market doesn't generally give the SEC more money.

That's the reason Mizzou is in the conference over West Virginia. St Louis and KC > Morgantown WV

It was a bad comparison, but to say the SEC would turn down Texas (even though this isn't happening at all) because A&M is already here, I feel would not be true.

Here's the ACC revenue numbers per school: total, football and basketball. This puts a little different perspective on the discussion. I don't believe VA is second in the ACC in total revenue, especially since they only generate 31 million from football and basketball combined, but show 81 million total revenue.

Once that comes out we'll see if these UNC, UVA or GT to the big ten rumors are true.

I live up here, Chapel Hill and Duke can die on the smoldering scrap heap that is the soon to be ACC. Take State, take Tech and be done with it. The culture fit doesn't even come close with the Tobacco Road boys to the SEC. No need for those elitist pricks.

They also have the best national name recognition in the ACC. Not to mention the Duke endowment. They make a nice counter-balance to Vandy.

I agree that they do not have the same football crazy culture of the SEC members. However, I have been up to Chapel Hill many times and absolutely think the place is super cool. I love me some Franklin Street, and the people are friendly. They are the major State University of NC so that means they meld well with the SEC.

Duke could be the school left standing when the conference realignment music stops playing. Word is that both NC State and UNC are scrambling to find a landing spot.

My guess is UNC to the SEC, NC State to the SEC, Duke left behind in the shattered remains of the ACC foraging for food with Wake Forest and the refugees from the Big East.
