Who wins in a 55 m dash - Page 2

It would probably be a littler lower given that his time accelerating lowers the overall average. I doubt it would take him 6 tenths to cover 5 yards at top speed. But im sure Byrd would beat him. Another consideration might be track versus what English ran on.

Tanner supposedly ran a 4.19 40 at some combine when he was considering going into the draft. This is coming from my friends on the baseball team (I go to St. James)

Definitely hand timed. Jacoby Ford posted a 4.1 out of Hargrave and won the indoor NCAA national championship in the 60 meters his senior year at Clemson and he posted like a 4.2 something at the combine. I would still be interested to see what he could run laser timed.

Ford ran a 4.28 time at the combine.4.24 is the fastest since the "new timing" standards which is of course Chris Johnson. Bo Jackson ran a 4.1 back in the day though which i doubt will ever be broken.

Jerome Mathis ran a 4.1 too as I recall. He ran back KO for Houston for a few years till he got hurt.

Maybe at his pro day? Had to look this one up, but he ran a 4.28 at the combine.

I've never heard of a baseball player running a 40 (at anything baseball related). they are typically (at least at everything I have have ever heard of) timed running a 60

And just to put Damiere Byrd's speed into perspective, he ran a 4.26 at a Philly Nike Camp (SPARQ electronic timing used).

You always gotta take into account that a field might be downhill. Thats why pro day times are typically better than combine times. I dont know about that field in particular or even what field it was, but he should be around there I would expect. Maybe on a good day he could match or beat CJ.

Actually I think English is a little faster. I bet English runs like 4.35 If he ran 4.19 he'd never be caught stealing. He'd be Willie Mays Hayes.
