Ray Tanner = Class Act guy!

I had the pleasure to meet and chat with coach Tanner last night at a fund raising event here in Florence and he went above and beyond my expectations. He signed a baseball for my 5 month old son which meant the world to me. I feel we are so blessed and honored to have in as the AD here at USC. He gave up 4 hours of his time last night to speak at a Medical fundraising event and was very well received. Long after most of the crowd left, he stayed around and signed autographs for numerous children and adults. I also met Gene Warr which is the chairman of the Board of Directors at USC and he was really impressive about his passion for the University of South Carolina. I wish you could have heard the joke Coach Tanner said about Coach Spurrier, it was priceless!

Coach Tanner said that he would be in a meeting with Coach Spurrier and if it ran over into this workout time, Coach Spurrier would stop what he was doing to say "I gotta go workout". He also said that Coach Spurrier gets many requests asking him to go speak at events around the state and that Coach Spurrier always volunteers Coach Tanner for all of them because he said he loves to talk. You could tell they are really good friend by the expressions on Coach Tanners face. While taking a picture with Coach Tanner, he asked me to post it on Facebook and spread the word that he was In Florence. I also mentioned Cockytalk to Gene Warr and Coach Tanner and they both smiled. I mentioned it was great seeing the University pulling in former players from the NFL and getting more involved with them and they both agreed we would see more of this in the near future. It was a great night!

Coach Tanner came to our band camp and took pictures with all of us! Also bought us ice cream. He's awesome

We have a lot of class acts at Carolina now. It is hard to believe at times. Our guys are great. Having Ray as a leader is as good as it gets.

The best thing about Ray Tanner is it is not an act! It is GENUINE!

Many who attain the level of success that Ray Tanner has, well they do the functions..... because they have to..... they have to "perform" their duty.

Ray Tanner on the other hand, is the most enthusiastic Athletic Director that you will ever see! For Ray, its not a job, its a chosen way of life, one in which he has fully invested himself!

There were many on this board and elsewhere who questioned the decision to make Coach Tanner AD....... but I have to tell you, I don't believe we could have found another person in the world who was more qualified overall than Ray Tanner!

"Trust in Ray" is a slogan they we have developed, because at a time or two there were reasons to question his methods or judgement, but I believe that Ray has proven that his best interests are Carolina's best interest's! I have no doubt that the University's athletic program, which has risen to an all-time high, will continue to flourish under Ray Tanner's leadership!

Exciting time to be a Gamecock!!!

Met Coach Tanner at the Darius Rucker concert in Columbia a few years back. Talked for a good 15-20 mins. One of the most uplifting people that I have ever spoken to.
