USC is one of a number of major programs that checked out Stratford junior QB Jacob Park (6-4 209) according to coach Ray Stackley. North Carolina, NC State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Florida, Auburn and Tennessee also expressed interest in Park who passed for 1276 yards and 7 touchdowns and rushed for 381 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. As a ninth grader, Park passsed for 1404 yards and 12 touchdowns. Park will make it to between three and five camps this summer with USC, Auburn, Tennessee and Notre Dame possible. USC is very interested according to Stackley. "He has a tremendous arm and can make all the thows," South Carolina's Shrine Bowl coach said. "He also runs well. He has good feet." There are no early favorites for Park.

Stratford coach Ray Stackley said his junior quarterback Jacob Park now has offers from Auburn, Tennessee, North Carolina and NC State. He's also getting interest from USC, Alabama, Georgia and Notre Dame. Stackley said even though USC has offered junior Drew Barker of Kentucky, the Gamecocks continue to recruit Park who passed for 2700 yards and 25 touchdowns this season. USC was by the school this week.

Impressive offer list thus far. I hope he doesn't think we're treating him as a "plan B" in case Barker doesn't work out. Based on his numbers from this past season, he's improving by leaps and bounds. His senior year could be huge, and he could have some serious heat by then.

How does he compare to Barker? Is this kid more of a drop back passer than Barker? He has great size too.

As passers, they're pretty comparable...they're both big, strong-armed guys who can sling it. Barker is significantly more mobile and athletic, though, and that extra dimension is likely what allows him to rank higher among all of the scouting services (and our coaches).

Park is considered a pro-style QB, while Barker is definitely a dual threat.

By the way, according to Barker, Mangus has told him that he's the best QB in the nation, and that's why he's our top choice (Barker wasn't bragging about that, he mentioned it in a humble fashion, saying it was nice to hear it, etc.). I don't doubt that Mangus feels that way, and I think he's a heck of a scout, so I'd love to land Barker. But Park would be one heck of a consolation prize if we don't land Barker--he is shaping up to be a legitimate SEC caliber quarterback, and he is right in our back yard. Even though Barker ranks higher now, and even though his superior athleticism would seem to indicate that he does have the higher upside, there's no guarantee he'll become the better QB of the two in the long run...only time will tell.

Class of 2014 quarterback Jacob Park (Goose Creek, S.C./Stratford) came in at 6-foot-3, 197-pounds and ran a 4.98 40, 4.47 shuttle, 7.1 L-cone and jumped 25-inches. North Carolina and N.C. State are among Park’s early offers.

right now Drew Barker is our #1 and only priority at QB.

If Barker decides to go elsewhere (he is choosing his school in March/April), then we will move on to another QB prospect. Until then, its Barker or bust.

Kentucky is starting to make some waves with Barker so it is going to be interesting to watch.

this kid is a local young man who has a strong arm, but I don't think he's a D1 QB. Coached against him a couple of times, very good HS QB. Stratford kind of changed their offense to increase his throwing numbers, but it has hurt him more than helped IMO, b/c they've gone away from the strong running game that aided him.

QB Jacob Park of Stratford has a dozen offers and has not formally cut down his list, but Knight's coach Ray Stackley four schools have emerged from the group to sit at the top of Park's list at this point. "He's almost down to five," Stackley said. "By the end of the school year he'll be down to five and he'll commit by the end of June or the first of July." Stackley said the four standing out the most right now are Alabama, Georgia, Virginia Tech and North Carolina. All have offered along with Auburn, Tennessee, NC State, Ole Miss and Duke. Stackley said Auburn and Tennessee are no longer in the picture. And right now USC and Clemson are not a factor. "Both of them love him but neither has offered," Stackley said. Park was at Alabama last weekend and has also been to North Carolina and Virginia Tech. His coach said he'll go to a couple of spring practices at schools he hasn't visited. Last season Park passed for 2700 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Pretty obvious... Better options out there. I don't think he's any better than any scholarship qb on our roster. We keep in state talent when we really want it

Anyone heard that he is one of the next in line for an offer if Barker opts for Kentucky, or is the assumption that GA would turn his attention to Tyler Harris?
