things are looking good for the future of USC softball

The Coaching staff has been kicking thier booties this week at practice. I'm pretty sure they will be focussed. I really hope they get back on track this weekend also. This team has the ability to play at a much higher level than they showed last weekend. My wife and I are going down to watch the games.

I have a friend who's daughter is a senior on the team, and I can tell you that this program is on the rise. His daughter has seen the progress first hand in the last three years. One of the reasons we have struggled to recurit is that our facilities were very sub-par. That is about to change.

I understand recruiting in-state, but frankly there is not a lot of in-state talent in softball compared to other southern states. Go look at the rosters from ALA, FLA and TENN, they are filled with out of state players and not many from SC. Also, keep in mind, 7 of the top 13 teams are from the SEC, again the best conference in the country.

It will not happen over night, much like our basketball team, but the coaching staff is in place to get us to the next level.

I talked to Samie for a few minutes last night at the basketball game . Asked her about a couple of players who haven't played yet . She said the transfer from Furman , Lakyn Shull , is eligible to play this year . They just haven't used her yet . Also, freshman Jordan Bizzell is injured . Don't remember if she said what the injury was or not .
Calling for rain Saturday . I guess the forecast is similar for Charleston . Hope they get all the games in .

Setting those bats on fire for the photo shoot must have really translated over. We beat Alabama State 29 to 0. We are beating Kennesaw State 8 to 0 right now in the 4th. Granted both of these teams are horrible but still 29 points damn...

I was mainly referrring to Alabama State so I should not have said both of them but it isn't like Kennesaw State is some powerhouse either. It is a solid win looking over their schedule played so far though.

Wins over Florida International and Georgia Southern on Sunday brings the teams record to 12-3 . The competition gets tougher next weekend at the South Florida tournament . Will be happy to win three of those five .

I just hope it isn't a repeat of least year with a good out of conference showing and then we get murdered weekend after weekend in SEC play. Hopefully Bev can hang on at least a few years after the new stadium is completed and turn things around.

Got the win over Nova to move to 2-2 in this tournament . Need the win over Penn State tomorrow . Definitely facing better pitching in this tourney . South Florida 's pitchers got them to the world series last year . The Northwestern pitcher was evidently tough (South Carolina's only super regional was in 2007 at Northwestern ) .

Yea I forgot her name but Northwestern had that short stocky red haired girl who could hit the cover off of the ball that year.

I disagree with the instate talent comment. I remember when people used to say the same thing about the Baseball in SC and when Tanner started recruiting heavily in SC he turned us into a National contender. If you keep the best players instate you can compete in the SEC.
